Rise & Fall: Civilizations At War is a detailed real-time strategy game that lets players completely command one of the four mightiest empires of the ancient world: Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Persia. Rise & Fall allows players to fight alongside their troops as one of history's eight greatest heroes, and bring victory to their nation on the battlefield.
  • Choose from four of the ancient world's mightiest empires: Persia, Greece, Egypt, or Rome plus four minor civilisations: Carthaginians, Babylonians, Gaul-Barbarians and Assyrians.
  • Enlist over 80 unique units to your cause, including footmen, archers, cavalry, siege and massive triremes.
  • Use realistically-scaled siege towers, ladders, and battering rams to annihilate city defenses and clear the way for the player's ground forces.
  • Fight for control of the seas by boarding and ramming enemy naval vessels using massive, accurately-scaled warships. Outfit warships with infantry, archers, ballistae, or catapults, depending on the player's strategic objectives.
  • Engage in awe-inspiring feats of heroism by personally joining your troops during climactic battles (from a third-person perspective).
  • Control one of eight unique Heroes including Julius Caesar, Germanicus Caesar, Cleopatra, Ramses the Great, Achilles and Alexander the Great, each with special abilities and weapons. This unique feature places the player on the battlefield as a fully controlled super weapon.
  • Powered by the Titan engine, the industry's leading next-generation 3D engine designed specifically for RTS games.
  • Recruit craftsman, scientists, artisans, and advisers who will help improve and enhance your civilisation both militarily and economically.
  • Progress through an intuitive and user friendly technology tree.
  • Up to 8 players will battle it out across numerous multiplayer game types, including a team-based mode where one player manages resources while the other unleashes the full power of Hero mode against the enemy team.

Decent Game - but not great

This game is not too bad, seems to me thats its just another rts game but in full 3D. The hero mode make for a nice change but is too easy - this game does work on Vista - Just right click on the icon and run as administrator. you will still need to download the starforce drive but vista can pick this up automatically when you restart your PC after installation (internet connection for this though of course)

This game makes a mockery of the stratergy genre. Forget long nights pitting your wits against the computer to try and conquer your enemy. If you are getting a good hiding just enter hero mode and you can defeat whole armies single handidly. And when your enemy sends their hero out against you it ends up like nintendo street fighter. If thats your bag fine but you really dont need to think to win this one.

 If you have VISTA run!!

I dunno who to blame here! Microsoft or the game. This Game will not work on MS VISTA. It just won't. And the fact that it has Starforce is a nightmare. Starforce will destroy your computer so run a country mile from this. As for the game itself, i'm sure it coulda been good but i'll never know.
