What does the American Dream mean today? For Niko Bellic fresh off the boat from Europe, it is the hope he can escape his past. For his cousin, Roman, it is the vision that together they can find fortune in Liberty City, gateway to the land of opportunity. As they slip into debt and get dragged in a criminal underworld by a series of shysters, thieves and sociopaths, they discover that the reality is very different from the dream in a city that worships money and status, and is heaven for those who have them and a living nightmare for those who don't.

This is a truly *great* game, the detail is amazing, the game play is great, graphics are great. However...i have an nvidia 8800gtx, 4gb ram and a core 2 duo 2.6mhz machine, and every now and then, it shuddered and you could see the textures loading up, so although i can comfortably play it, even my rig wasn't perfect for it.

Also, when i first installed it on vista, it took over an hour from inserting the first disc to actually playing it due to the size of it, and having to download and create an account with microsoft live, albeit an offline account.

This game takes up just 14-15 gb of space on the machine, and in my experience, runs so much better on xp than vista.

Before you buy this game you really should check the recommended requirements.... not the minimum. A recommended spec machine will let you run it smoothly on medium settings, apparently the high settings are for "future hardware".
If you have the machine required then this is a must. Easily the best in the series so far, whilst not changing the format in any real way the overall package has been refined and improved. The combination of free roaming game play, the acting, script, story and humour make this a game you will play for hours. With so many games having a short life span these days this stands out as amazing value for money.
