Set twenty-five years in the future, Hellgate: London introduces a world devastated by a demon invasion and a desolate city scorched by hellfire where mankind has gone underground to survive. Among them are the Templar, an archaic and secret society that foresaw this demonic apocalypse centuries ago.

Hellgate: London combines the depth of role-playing games and action of first-person titles, while offering infinite playability with randomly created levels, items, and events. The player creates a heroic character, completes quests, and battles through innumerable hordes of demons to advance through experience levels and branching skill paths. A robust, flexible skill and spell system, highly customisable appearances, and a massive variety of randomly generated equipment allow players to create their own unique hero.

A New Perspective on RPGs: Combining the depth and customisability of role-playing games with the immersive experience of a first-person perspective, gameplay is fast-paced without requiring lightning-fast FPS reflexes, making it accessible to a broad audience of RPG fans.

Unique and Appealing World: Experience the ominous setting of post-apocalyptic London. From ancient ruins buried beneath city streets to shattered cathedrals to the last remnants of humanity bunkered in the Underground, the boundary between fact and myth are blurred as a few glorious heroes fight for their very souls.

Customizable Character Classes: Fight against the demons of the underworld as one of several unique character classes. Like the Templar, each class has a unique visual and game play style based on their particular history and heritage. Randomly generated and modifiable items ensure that heroes are distinct and individualised.

Hell on Earth: Battle against a wide variety of demonic enemies, each with their own unique attributes, abilities, and vulnerabilities.

Infinite Replayability: With dynamically-generated levels, massive quantities of randomly- created items, chance events and story-driven quests, no two gaming experiences are ever the same.

Single-Player and Online Multiplayer Support: While Hellgate: London stands on its own as a single-player game, it also provides a compelling cooperative multiplayer experience through a dedicated online gaming destination. By creating unique and individualised game play "instances" within a vast online community, gamers get all the best parts of traditional massive multiplayer games without the common downsides.

Been playing with Beta for a while now, and got to tell you its gr8, its between a Fps + Rpg. you get 6 chars to pick from summoner/guardian/marksman/blademaster/envoker/engineer.
Each are brilliant, you get lots of different items, common/green/blue/legendary/sets/uniques.
every weapon can be modified with upgrades, you can take your upgrades of your weapon if you wish to use em on a different weapon, but costs a few quid.
You can enhance your weapon with stats also, which is nice.
Well what else can you say? if you loved Diablo/2 you will love this.

...i left out one star because (and everyone should take note of it) its a online EA game that has had two patches so far. yes its buggy but its still fresh on the shelves. if youre bad mouthing the game because of the bugs youre a bit dim, think of it keep with it and the bugs will go away.
ok the voice actors do grind on you but you wouldnt be talking right if you survived hell on earth.
all in all a good addictive game well worth it.

           Missed Oppurtunity

Was looking forward to this, but since playing the demo and now the beta, I wont be getting this.

The graphics take you back a few years with dull "dungeon" areas that are small, not well designed and lack good textures and lighting. HL2 has better graphics that this. Which was released a few years ago.

Sound is poor as well, weapon effects are just a basic swoosh swoosh or bang bang. And the voice acting(little that there is) is horrible. Its like they are trying to insult us brits.

Gameplay gets boring after your first station(town). It plays like a 3d diablo game, like Titan Quest but in 3rd person. The FPS part of the game(marksman) is boring as well, you have a cone type recoil but no reload so you charge and just stand there holding the mouse button down, like every other class...

Download the demo and try it out though, some may like it.

           Awful awful game

I was really looking forward to this game. I was a big diablo 2 fan and i read that the team from diablo was gonna make this i was so happy. I've ben reading about this game since 2006 and now finally i got to try the beta. At first it was very cool, the graphics is somewhat meh, looks pretty similar to doom 3, and that game is quite old.
Whats fun with this game is that you dont look at the xp bar and ask yourself "yawn, this takes so much time", sure you look but you dont care because blasting all those zombies and undeads is just so much fun, at first. Then when you sit down and play for a while, you start to become bored. Why? becuase it's to repetetive, Diablo atleast had some nice scenary (especially ac2, 3 and 5). This game doenst have any memorable scenes or places, it has very very bad music (the voice acting is nice, with the british english touch). The best part of the game is the customization, with different mods and stuff, similar to runes/gems in diablo but 100% better. But that doenst outweigh the crapiness of the game. Also the fact that you have to pay (optional) for an instanced game is really sad, if i want to pay to play i would rather go play WoW (which is also a crappy game, but better then this) Which is a presistent world, the graphics is, not as good as this, but feels more cartoony but the game has alot more to do and see. I'm sticking to Guild Wars, which is free, and alot better (and by alot i mean alot alot alot)
Do yourself a favor stay away from this game

           Alright

I enjoy the eerie atmosphere, character levelling and the fact that one character plays like a hack n slash and one like a shoot em up.
It doesn't take long though before you realise you are doing exactly the same thing over and over again though. -Go down a corridor and destroy the monsters in it, every now and then move on to a new station. Watch as you slowly collect weapons with higher stats and fight monsters with higher stats. So how long you enjoy the game for depends entirely on how many times you enjoy going down a corridor and destroying the monsters.
The game had more potential than it delivered.
