4 Make sure you download the latest patch from the publisher!eclipser | 29/04/2007 | See all eclipser's reviews (1)A PC conversion of a game originally launched on the Gamecube several years ago (and later the PS2), to almost universal critical acclaim. The PC version was slated in numerous reviews at release, due to the fact that it had very poor graphics - there were limited/non-existent lighting effects in the game. With the latest patch it now looks much, much better and the new lighting effects add to the atmosphere immensely. The traditional Resident Evil 'tank-like' character controls can be quite hard to get to grips with on a keyboard, but if you are prepared to put up with this a gem of a game awaits.

2 A Classic RuinedBrausch | 16/11/2007 | See all Brausch's reviews (187)Top 100 Reviewer Top 100 DVD Reviewer I sometimes wonder if game companies actually want to sell games. Game design is top quality and compelling as all the series have been. The game was released with dreadful graphics which a patch improves substantially but makes no difference to the poor quality cut scenes. However the game's looks are secondary to how it plays. The controls are dreadful. Mouselook is not supported and those who've seen a patch for it on the net should beware, it only emulates joypad control and does not work with this version of the game. Keyboard control is poor which leaves only joypad. Controls are not user definable and there is such terrible lag on the analog sticks that precise aiming is virtually impossible. The final insult is the lack of a quit button, the game has to be shut down using Windows Task Manager
5 ExcellentMobius365 | 26/01/2009 | See all Mobius365's reviews (1)First off, you need to download the patch and have a gamepad to play this game. Otherwise don't bother buying because it's unplayable in it's vanilla state and using keyboard controls. Graphically it's starting to show it's age and my other rant is that there really is no 'exit game' option. Other then these flaws which are easily overcome the game itself is nothing short of absolutely fantastic. The gameplay constantly evolves with new challanges, enemies and locations. Puzzles are well balanced (unlike those in previous RE games). The combat system is perfect, requiring skill but easy enough if your new to a game of this genre. The ability to upgrade and unlock new weapons means theres plently of replay value as well as the usual minigames and unlockable costumes. If you've never played this game it's worth checking out, if only as stop gap until Resi 5 is released!
