Timeshift takes the first-person shooter to an entirely different dimension marked by erratic time and unrelenting action.

Players take on the role of Colonel Michael Swift, a renowned and recently retired test pilot, who has accepted an offer from the US Government to test out two of the most significant inventions of the century. Armed with a time-control device called the Quantum Suit and a time machine called the Chronomicon, Swift is briefly sent back in time to plant an experimental probe. Upon his return to the present, a major shift has occurred.

The world he left has changed beyond all recognition. And his intimate knowledge of the true time stream has made him an enemy of the state. Swift is both on the run and on a mission to set time straight once again.

 Good from demo

FYI, the techniques used to control time differ to that from previous games to attempt it... and to be honest from the demo, I've never seen anything implemented like it.

The demo starts off in the rain, and the time slowing and stopping events actually slow down the drops so that you can see each individual droplet hitting the floor, the enemies and objects around you, all while you move at normal speed!

You learn quickly that the only way to progress through certain areas is to use the time control effects to complete challenges and clear rooms full of enemies. One classic maneuvre is to slow/stop time and grab the guns of the enemies in a room. Boy do they all panic when time beings to flow again!

 Good Game

This game does control time "elements" never seen before. While other games have slo-mo..this one has a massive amount of detail in the 3d world..all of which slows - better and more effectively than Max Payne 2. Otherwise, it doesn't have the mood of MP2, but in the 3 hours I've played the game so far, it really does come across as a good game. I'd give it 7.5/10

how is it a waste of money?

Not sure what the reviewer below is talking about. How is £12.99 a waste of money, its well worth that. It plays well and is fun. I always believe playability is more important than if the graphics are perfect. Stop being so tight, buy crisis AND this game as well, its only £13 after all.

One of this years top titles

After playing through about an hour of this game, I can confirm that this game lives up to the expectations that surrounds it. The ability to pause, stop and reverse time whenever you wish means that every situation is re-playable and different no matter how many times you play.
Think you could only take a guard out so many different times in slow motion? Not in timeshift!

 Piece of junk

the idea is sound however the way these people at sierra have gone about it leaves a lot to be desired really.

pro's:
1. great graphics especially from a great distance.
2. good weapon choice.
3. nice flash backs.
4. it is well built.

con's.
1. your way too weak and a few bullets can kill you if your careless or slightly offline or simply have no idea.
2. not enough energy for timeshifting.
3. some areas which require timeshift leave a bit of confusion as to how to go around it.
4. the boss monster level sucks big time.
5. your weapon aim is crude, it is vital to be able to kill your enemy before the enemy kills you and aim is important.

in my opinion this game and its jewel case should be more useful and less frustrating as a door wedge to be honest.
