Review

Timeshift takes the first-person shooter to an entirely different dimension marked by erratic time and unrelenting action.

Players take on the role of Colonel Michael Swift, a renowned and recently retired test pilot, who has accepted an offer from the US Government to test out two of the most significant inventions of the century. Armed with a time-control device called the Quantum Suit and a time machine called the Chronomicon, Swift is briefly sent back in time to plant an experimental probe. Upon his return to the present, a major shift has occurred.

The world he left has changed beyond all recognition. And his intimate knowledge of the true time stream has made him an enemy of the state. Swift is both on the run and on a mission to set time straight once again.

This game got average reviews in mags when it came out and the reviews on this site are also mixed.
The graphics and game play are very good. I did find one point where I got stuck in the scenery but apart from that it's an excellent game. There are also some unusal weapons which I like.
Yes, I can see the comparisons with Half Life 2, the big screen with some chap continuously spouting propaganda is very reminiscent. However, I totally disagree with him re Gears Of War. This is a good game, GOW was complete pants.
I got it from playtrade for £6 and am well impressed.

I want to like this game just becasue the idea is briliant, but I just can't! Its awful, they coud have done so much better with such a brilliant idea, its like the frankenstien of the games world! Its a mutant, composed of parts form other games, for example the graphics resemble Doom 3 (good game) the story line is similar to Half life 2 (God of games) and the whole effect of the game is very Gears of War (good game). But cutting these games up and sticking them into a blender creates this bad taste in the back of your mouth as you try to swallow this vissual slushy! I loved the fact you could kill people over and over and in different ways, in fact that was the only thing I liked, but they didn't spend a lot of time on it! Fun to freeze time, and mess about but awful to play, my advice is borrow this from a friend and if you like it buy it!

This game is a simple shooter with some nice time-shifting involved. It does not try to be groundbreaking and is all the better for it.I really enjoyed playing this and it ran like a dream on my computer. Also has a reasonable length of play and at this price its worth a go.
