On the heels of winning 25 international gaming awards with FIFA 09, the top-selling football franchise from EA Sports is surpassed with FIFA 10. On the pitch, critical gameplay fundamentals have been enhanced to ensure that FIFA 10 mirrors real-world football, providing more sophisticated ball control, and physical interaction. On attack, players now analyse space more effectively, curve their runs in an attempt to stay onside, create passing lanes naturally, and drive for more variety in attacking options. On defense, new concepts like position priority enable defenders to multitask so dangerous spaces left open by teammates out of position are covered. Plus, slide tackle targeting, press marking, and better urgency clearance logic provide new options that make defending a tactical skill in FIFA 10.

360-degree Dribbling: The first-ever true 360-degree dribbling system in a football game provides finer dribbling control, enabling players to find spaces between defenders that previously were not possible.

Skilled Dribbling: All-new animation warping technology provides unprecedented control. Skilled players now have the ability to face a defender and use highly-responsive lateral dribbling to skip past him.

Freedom in Physical Play: Wider dribble touches and new collision sharing creates a varied, less predictable, and extended fight for possession between the dribbler and a defender.

Player Urgency: Improved urgency AI logic, with over 50 new movement cycles, delivers more responsive positioning so your players stay focused on the ball and move at a speed appropriate to the action.

Improved Trapping Intelligence: Players now have a better awareness of where the easiest, most natural trapping position is so they can get the ball on the ground and under control easier and earlier.

Advanced Positioning: Defenders multi-task and play the pitch more intelligently by covering dangerous spaces left by out-of-position teammates. In attack, players analyse space more effectively, curve their runs to stay onside, create passing lanes and vary attacking options.

More Accurate Passing: Players analyse space better resulting in pinpoint passes that give their receivers more options and time to outrun defensive pressure.

Authentic Shooting: Refinements to the shooting system and modifications of the ball physics create a wider, more realistic variety of shots that enhance the exhilaration of scoring.

Varied Defending Options: Slide Tackle targeting has been enhanced so skilled players have more reach and avoid tackling through the dribbler. Better effort clearance logic gives defenders more options when attempting to get a foot on the ball before an attacker.

Based on demo, it's a rehash of Fifa 09 PC

                | | See all SteveUtd's reviews (15)

The graphics are actually worse than last year (despite promises to the contrary), the gameplay has barely changed at all (despite promises of sweeping changes) and many of the bugs from Fifa 09 are still alive and kicking. Since it's on the pitch where the game matters the most, this all makes me say that I cannot recommend it above PES 10, which is looking and playing superbly. (again, based on the demo). Also, major improvements have been made off the pitch with PES 10, including a completely reworked Master League, with real currency, real calendars, Europa League/Champions League properly implemented and much, much more.

Either way, don't get this game, just pick up Fifa 09 for a cheap price and whack some of the graphical updates made by the fans - you'll hardly notice the difference between it and Fifa 10.

Whatever you do, don't make the (understandable) mistake of believing that the PC version of Fifa 10 is the same as the PS3/Xbox 360 version - nothing could be further from the truth. You want a football game and you have a PC? Get PES 2010.

EA Sports' attitude towards the platform that made them great, the PC, stinks.

                 Worse than the console versions

Everything that makes the 360 version so great is missing from the PC version. The gameplay has no weight behind it, and it comes across as clumsy and stiff in comparison. It just lacks the realistic flow and feel that you get with the next gen console versions. I've not seen a reason for dumbing the game down either, the graphics are worse and the performance is still shoddy even on my PC (which runs GTA4 on high graphics with a solid 30fps). Don't get me wrong, it's still a good game, and if you don't have a PS3 or 360 then this is the best football game you can get, which is why I gave it 3 stars, but if I had to give a rating based solely on a comparison with the 360 version then I would give it 1 star.

It's about time EA pulled their socks up and gave us a PC version of FIFA that matched the console versions. I had hoped they would do that this time, but sadly I've been let down yet again.

                 not bad

i have 1 problem with this game, and thats the speed of the gameplay. I like fast paced football, passing it about quickly etc, but even on the fast gameplay speed, its still pretty slow. I get FIFA every year, as a big Leeds UTD fan i like to play with them. The squad list is spot on, the graphics are good. Theres an all new mode called Be a pro club and country, where you pick 1 player from any team, and you have to do well enough for the national club manager to spot you, and maybe put you in his team. Thats a good fun mode, but the gameplay is too slow for my liking. Thats the only problem i have with it. Others may like it that way, but not my ideal game,

yet again utter rubbish for pc..

This game is pants.. EA decided not to make us a next generation production for the PC version and instead have churned out what feels like FIFA 2003 with updated transfers.. The graphics are very very VERY poor, and have got worse since last years version, the players all look practically the same and are all extremely robotic... One of those games you can play for 5 mins an quite happily never play again... If you want a good football game get pes 2010.

                 Excellent
