Ok, yes there are some negatives but nothing major, the logging on to Rockstar is a pain (no pun intended) and the Cut scenes can drag a bit but with a game this big you need the loading time. The game itself is nice to look at and the game play is straight foward and yes, you do just sort of run round and kill bad guys but it is a shoot em up and it is Max Payne but your are following a story so you get what you expect I guess. It's fun, it;s nice to look at, it's smooth, it's has straight foward gameplay and it's well, Max Payne and Bullet Time, what more do you want. Worth the money in my books. 7.9/10

Social Club
This game is great not sure about the character of Max Payne as I have not been set onto the world of Max Payne and only played Max Payne one and two for a short while. The social club was easy to configure with the network as it was automatically added to my firewall thanks windows firewall ha.

The Social Club offers the abilities to check your achievements in game (online or not) and check the scores of yourself and anyone else who has logged into the social club as well as chat with your friends I believe. You can compare time scores from different modes or kills or deaths online etc. Always a decent feature to have in an FPS.

Gameplay

The difficulty of this game comes in 5 varieties which is nice as it allows newer players to become acquainted with the gameplay mechanics of Max Payne 3 without being shot to .... every few seconds.

The game treats you with waves upon waves of enemies just like many other shooters. There is no difference there and you cannot shoot through walls unfortunately but there is very little room for complaint with the decent physics support and a whole lotta stuff to shoot.

Story

The story is great with some nice twists making you think about the inner workings of Max Payne as he battles through endless waves of enemies not only physically, but emotionally too.

Graphics

The games graphics I thought were very nice, giving the user a heap of options to specify the level of detail throughout the game even allowing you to select between DX9 - 10 - 10.1 - 11. Not many games do that so it is nice to see it once in a while at least.

Having the game built to run on very weak systems compared to todays standard with ease is great as it gives a broader range of people who can purchase and use the product, but this game also runs amazingly well on its top settings on a mid range computer.

I am using 2x GTX 560s and getting roughly 250 FPS on average on full settings without MSAA limited by 1GB VRAM on 1920x1080.

Overall, a great game worth buying great story great online capabilities great graphics easy to run. Hope you all have fun with it.

Brilliant addition to the max payne world

I don't know why people are giving this poor reviews as this is worth at least 4stars. Yes the signing onto rockstars social network is a bit annoying but how many games now don't require you to have the internet to play them. Graphically this is brilliant when compared to the last two max payne games which are old yes, but max payne 3 has some excellent scenery and atmosphere, it also gives you a sense of just how hopeless sometimes maxs battle is throughout the single player story. The story is good and does remind me of some of the old school max payne scenarios in the original 2 remedy games. It is level after level of shoot out bliss which is what max payne games were all about, it is a shooter. Sound is absolutely spot on if you have a good set up, this kicks out some awesome sounds and puts you right in the thick of the fire fight. Overall max payne 3 is a great addition to the series and a worthy sequel one of the best shooters out this year in my opinion.

  More than disappointing..........

..........frustrating and for me a waste of money. It's more like a film than a game, waiting for the cut scenes to finish so you can actually interact. I admit I may not be the best game player but having to sit through the 'story' again and again when you get killed is a nightmare,

  Frustration

Main gripe about this game is having to sign on to the rockstar club each time to play it, that is after Rockstar told me to switch of my firewall and virus checker. Being on a net work no way I would do this. Three installs at 3/4 hour each, tedious. The only method that worked it to remove Network cable so went into offline mode. This should be an option at start up. The game play is OK if you like long cut scenes, kill a few baddies more long cut scenes. The game never really flows, shame. Almost a big a let down as Duke Nukem Forever.

Your mission: Kill everybody.
Characterless candy floss, has nothing in common with the original Max Paynes except the name and bullet time.
It's difficult only because hordes of enemies jump at you, so the fastest trigger finger wins.
30GB install, yet graphics are very much off the mill.
Most overhyped game this year.
