In the summer of '44, the Second World War entered its endgame when the Allies launched two major operations that would drive back German forces on both the Western and Eastern Fronts at once.

In the ultimate test of military strategy, Order Of War will challenge you not only to lead America's finest to victory in the west, but also place you in command of the German forces charged with repelling the Red Army's seemingly unstoppable offensive in the east. Even the keenest military minds will find that it's one thing to make history, but quite another to change it.

Do you have what it takes to command?

  • Experience the scale and intensity of WWII warfare in an awe-inspiring, cinematic battle across Europe.
  • Take complete command of an army consisting of up to 1000 soldiers, tank divisions, armoured vehicles and aircraft.
  • Players can choose between two different campaign modes offering completely different storylines, missions, objectives and environments.
  • Experience the unique dynamic camera which offers panoramic views of the entire battlefield - perfect for planning - and up-close-and-personal scenes from the front-line firefight.
  • In-depth gameplay modes including 2 story campaigns, multiplayer, deathmatch and skirmish.

Just finished the game and spent some really exciting hours with it so I would love to share with you my views on "Order of War" title. First off I should I say that I never considered myself an RTS fan (shooters is my passion actually). That's probably why I was advised to try namely this game. And yes, the absence of head racking micromanagement, production and recharging was what I greatly appreciated in this game. OOW is all about dynamism. It doesn't mean of course that you don't have to think while completing the missions, but you can focus completely on annihilating your enemy as all management stuff was already done by developers. That is why "Order of War" is really warlike, all about vanquishing the enemy. The number of forces you command is limited to several units, so there's no need to babysit each your soldier or tank.
The game is just beautiful, battles are very massive-scale and look impressive. Cut scenes between the missions are very eye catchy and cinematic camera is simply awesome: it gives you the chance to observe those large scale tense battles through the eyes of a camera man from different angles. Music also definitely deserves 5 stars.
What I was disappointed a bit about, is that even it is extremely difficult to create something new about this hackneyed WWII setting, mission could be a bit more different from each other. And by the final phase of the game it is quite easy to predict AI's behavior. Hardened RTS gurus may feel bored about it. Fortunately, OOW's multiplayer mode gives the chance to fight with real people which is really exciting.
OOW is really worth trying both for noobs in RTS and hardened RTS buffs.

Bought about a week ago and here's my brief review.
First of all, I liked the scale. You have lots of troops on the battlefield simultaneously (in one of my multiplayer battles the stats screen said that I had deployed more than 1,5K infantry, more than 250 tanks, more than 130 guns, more than 30 aircrafts) - that makes you feel Patton Jr., at least.
Secondly, the graphics. I have pretty much experience of playing RTS games, but every time I started one I never forgot that I was playing and that it is just a game and nothing more. Here I was so hipped on what is there on the screen that sometimes it seemed to me that I was watching a new epic war movie. The cinematic camera mode here is something second to none, really!
And the coolest thing for me is the reality of what is going on. I mean the historical correspondence. I've read a lot to the topic of WWII and I should say that I never expected such detail accuracy in the mere entertaining product. All the missions are based on real operations that actually took place during the war and they follow one by one in strict historical order making an impression of a continuous war campaign. Preppy introductory movies give you the short review of preceding events and get you into the battle atmosphere. And you may be sure that all the troops mentioned were really represented in that particular operation of 1944.
I must confess that at first I was rather skeptical about the historical truth. In the "Hill of Sorrow", for example, I was surprised to find Americans on the hill instead of Poles, but having turned to the history books I saw that the fact had place! American forces really took part in that battle, so there's nothing contradictory here.
So, my conclusion is that the game is undoubtedly WORTH playing. I can insistently recommend it both to RTS-fans and to those who want to get true impression of 'how-it-really-was'. "Straight A' from all sides!
