Gamer focused and developer inspired, the Playstation 4 is a cutting-edge system. With input from the greatest developers from across the globe, PS4 is designed to offer them everything they need to create the very best and most immersive games for gamers. Players will have the ability to stay connected to a greater world of Playstation experiences wherever they are, across console, mobile spaces and Playstation Network. All of the technology in the PS4 combines to deliver breath-taking graphics and incredibly immersive experiences as soon as gamers switch on the system.

Shared Game Experiences are central to the PS4 experience. For the first time ever on a console, gamers can seamlessly upload gameplay videos or capture an image of a triumphant moment with the push of a button. Simply press the "Share" button on the controller, browse through your last few minutes of gameplay, tag it and return to the game. The PS4 makes it easy for gamers to share their images and videos with friends on social networking sites, including Facebook.

Make games more social by broadcasting your in-game exploits real-time to friends using live internet services, e.g. Ustream. When you're live broadcasting gameplay, friends will be able to comment on the streamed footage, or even offer to join you in the game in new and exciting ways. Players can also connect their Facebook to their PSN Network account to make sharing video and image content even easier.

Full integration of second screens such as the Playstation Vita, smartphones and tablets, enables gamers to enjoy their favourite content anytime, anywhere. Second Screen enables remote play by using the PS Vita, so you can enjoy PS4 on the move. Gamers will be able to seamlessly pull PS4 titles from their TV and play them on the PS Vita's 5-inch display over Wi-Fi networks.

A Playstation App will also be available for transforming your iPhone, iPad or Android smartphones and tablets into a second screen. This version of Second Screen will offer new gameplay possibilities such as being able to view maps in an adventure game, purchasing PS4 download games while away from home, or watching other gamers playing PS4 games on their device.

Start playing and experiencing content instantaneously. PS4 drastically reduces the time it takes for users to access their content. Suspend mode is also another element that will enable gamers to get into the action. When users finish gaming they will be able to preserve their session and keep the system in a low power mode. Then next time the power button is pressed, play can resume at the exact point they reached. Digital titles will also be playable as they are being downloaded, so users can start playing instantly while the rest is downloaded in the background.

On the newly designed PS4 menu screen, gamers can view game-related information that friends have shared, watch friends' gameplay, or discover recommended content including: games, films, TV series and more. The aim is that the system will eventually be able to predict which games you will be interested in purchasing, so the game is ready to play before you even press the buy button.

Sony have combined Playstation Network and Gaikai Inc's cloud technology service, so in the future gamers will be able to immediately start playing an actual portion of a game that interests them, and not just a demo. With the unique possibilities that cloud technology poses, Sony will look to make Playstation libraries available, including over 3000 PS3 titles.

Confirmed PS4 Games:

Diablo III
Killzone: Shadow Fall
inFAMOUS: Second Son
The Witness

having owned the ps4 since just before Christmas here's what I think so far.
the console itself is a very nifty bit of kit. graphically it is simply stunning. the games run very fluidly and so far I have not experienced a problem with them. the installs are a little but of a pain but they were starting to do that with the old console anyway so it is really nit-picking at this point. the controller itself is amazing in the hand and feels very well built. the live streaming is a lot of fun and great to be able to see how your friends play the games, having said that the voice commands are very basic with the voice control but that was more quirky than anything else in my mind. not being able to personalise the home screen is a bit of a let down in my eyes. with the ps3 being able to download your own wallpapers whether static or dynamic was something that truly made owning the console your own. also the fact that ps4 is not backwards compatible was a huge let down in my eyes as all of the hard work you have made trying to get your game collection is rendered pretty much pointless (while I realize its a new console it still would have been nice being able to play gta 5 with your mates without having to change consoles over). another thing that is a bit of an annoyance is that at this moment in time the ps4 is not 3d compatible. what I mean by that is that your 3d blu rays will not run in 3d, now sony having made a big thing out of this on the previous console only to leave it out on this one at launch strikes me as a little bit odd. the launch titles are a little weak I have to admit, but no doubt that in time when the game publishers start working their magic you will really see what the console is capable of. comparing it to the xbox one they are very similar machines, the only obvious difference in them is that Microsoft tend to be leading towards and overall multimedia box where as sony is strictly for gaming and nothing else. so, should you get one? at this particular moment in time if you are more than happy playing on the games you have on the ps3 or xbox 360 I wouldn't really bother yourself too much unless like me you just simply had to go out and get it. it's a good little machine but at the price it is and the games out there I would wait until there is a little more to it than what it is right now.
