Mercury provides an addicting challenge through its simple gaming mechanic, which merely requires players to 'tilt' each level in order to manoeuvre the blobs of mercury, with various switches, platforms, obstacles and hazards standing between level goals.
Powering Mercury is a ridiculously sophisticated engine which calculates every gloopy part of the liquid metal as it bends and melds around everything in its path. As the digitised mercury smoothly ebbs and flows under such simple controls, players experience the purest form of gaming imaginable.
Despite requiring no complicated controls, the game itself is grinningly taxing. Puzzle elements vary from needing to split the mercury into several coloured component parts - each of which will be affected by the degree of tilt - in order to open gates, activate switches, etc. The maze-like environments require lateral thinking in order to navigate the mercury from start to finish; with the sprawling 3D levels often requiring devilish-yet-hit-yourself-when-you-work-it-out solutions.
  • 72 levels of liquid mayhem
  • 6 worlds that get progressively harder
  • 30+ types of interactive objects, enemies and useful level-solving devices
  • Game types include race, percentage, task, combo, boss and secrets mode
  • WLAN 2-player mode for all levels
  • Score system for players to max-out on
  • Unlockable levels per-world for high scorer's
  • Training camp for beginners to practice blob control and colour manipulation
  • Ultra-realistic liquid mercury effects never seen in a game before
  • 72 unique tracks of ambient music

Frustrating beyond belief - I love it

Having seen my brother play this, I was awed at the exceptional detail, and the real thought that had been put in to creating all the levels.
I've had Meltdown for a while, and I have to admit, it was quite funky, but if you're looking for a sophisticated game that, in turn, entertains, awes and frustrates the living hell out of you all in one, this is the perfect game.
There's a great amount of gameplay involved, because the maps are so diverse later in the game it could take a few tries to just establish a route, but the fun is limitless, if you've got the patience to really rack your brains for a soloution, and have the skill and determination needed to carry it all out. You won't be able to put it down until you've finished that one level.. Oh wait, the next one maybe.. Oh, go one, one more..

Overall, it's a great game, that takes ball-rolling labyrinth gaming, whacks it up a few thousand degrees, and twists it to the fourth dimension. If you can complete it fully, you could be hailed as a god. :D

 Terrific game!

Fantastic music while playing the game. Sometimes I listen to the music without playing the game! So much superior to "meltdown". In "meltdown" the graphics look cheap and cartoony, in the this game the mercury acually looks like mercury and the colours are just outstanding. This game deserves a 6 if there was such a rating.

 Mind boggiling

great game , awesome levels , very addictive , the only bad thing is that there are some levels you might get stuck on

 Good game

It's a good game but Mercury Meltdown is better, meltdown was out of stock when I ordered this game but I was pleased with it. It's a good starter game then meltdown is more advanced and tricky.
