World Snooker Championship 2007 boasts 104 of the World's best snooker players, with ten official tournaments all realistically modelled for the 2007 season. Can you take Shaun Murphy to another stunning World Championship win? Or will you be able to bring Ronnie O' Sullivan back to form at the table to regain his titles?
  • Features many of the players from the Snooker and Pool circuits, the PSP version contains 91 licensed snooker players out of 96 and 14 out of 64 Pool players, including Shaun Murphy, Ronnie o'Sullivan, Earl Strickland and Efren Reyes.
  • Improved 3D front-end, providing an atmospheric ante-room.
  • Incorporates 5 different championship modes: Snooker, Pool (9/8 Ball), Hybrid (customised Snooker/Pool tours), Golden Cue (challenging former champions in Snooker and Pool) and TrickShot. The PSP still contains the challenges format used in the last version of the game but now it is spread over the same 5 different championships as the consoles.
  • New gameplay mechanics, including a Cueball Target Indicator (where your Cueball will stop on the table, according to power, bounce and spin)
  • Unlockable items through progressive play and performance: Locations, Cues and Trophies
  • Extra games modes for friendly play: Versus and QuickPlay, with existing matches plus Billiards and Bar Billiards.
  • Coaching for all game modes: Snooker, 8 Ball Pool, 9 Ball Pool, Free Snooker and Free Pool, with access to official Rules for all modes.
  • Familiar commentary from John Parrot, John Virgo and Steve Davis, with new voices for the Pool circuit.

 Great game - but flawed?

I am not a shoot-em up player or car racer fan. I love games that I can get into easily and re-visit time and time again.

Like the real game of snooker, no two frames are ever the same. The gameplay is fantastic and the balls respond as well as I have ever seen in a pool/snooker sim. This is clearly where the majority of programming effort has gone - quite rightly. Beyond that, there are some annoying issues.

Occasionally you get your player or your opponent stood in the middle of the table and the referee(?) stood off to the side with his arms sticking out from his side. Another issue (that might be simply PSP related), is the battery strength indicator is over one of the pockets in ariel view and initially this makes it difficult to aim for this pocket accurately.

Away from the snooker game itself, the pool game has an annoying red circling indicator over the target ball making it very hard to play. I haven't found a way of turning this off.

Back to the game in general, it takes a long time to establish the game before playing it but well worth the wait when things kick off. One final niggle; after winning six frames in the championship mode, you get a challenge. Some of them are simply ridiculous.

All in all though, a very engaging game that has been almost permanently in my PSP for months. Great purchase at the lower price advertised here.

 What an amazing snooker game!!

this is the first snooker game i have bought on the psp, i have to say that it is so far very good and impressive. Have always love the sport, so i think i have chosen right. A must buy for such a great cheap price.
