The last (and only?) great PSP game.

This is an absolutely superb port of one of Japans most established RPG series, the Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky.

The first of an impressive trilogy, the game has a superb cast and story, with a very funny and interesting script, colourful characters with a wide range of personalities and yet unlike games like Final Fantasy manages to avoid drowning you with a needlessly complex battle system, instead providing a system that has depth, yet is not overwhelmingly complicated. If you have played the superb Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, then you'll have a fairly good grasp of the battle system used here. One thing that is unique to the game is the difficulty level, which actually adjusts to how well you are doing - losing badly, and often? The game will ease up on the difficulty. Cruising through? The next boss may just be a bit harder than you expect it to be.

The PSP has been left high and dry when it's come to good games, but Trails in the Sky, whilst not exactly doing a huge amount to buck any trends in RPG tradition, is a well-paced and enjoyable game that for sheer polish and quality rivals anything the consoles big brother, the PS3, has to offer in terms of RPG fun.
