Monster Hunter Freedom 2

This is without a doubt the cause of half of the worlds suicide rates. After you have spent 45 minutes trying to kill a giant beast, to be killed by a little pig, it is enough to push anybody over the edge.

The graphics of MHF's sequel are again fantastic and new levels such as the Snowy Mountains and new jungles and deserts push the poor little psp to its limit.

This time around there are many more monsters which have been imported from the old PS2 games, each of them with different habits and attacks.

MHF2 again does not have an actual storyline, but the main purpose of the game is to advance through the hunter ranks where you will meet new monsters or old ones that are just stronger.

This is the first series ever i think where you actually need proper skill. I mean any one can complete stupid super mario, but make a ten year old play this game it is impossible.

When you are 30 minutes into a battle and you pass out for the third time, I swear on many occasions i have nearly thrown my psp through a window! It is that annoying to think that you have just wasted 30 mins of your life.

But that is what makes the game so good, I did eventually master the game, the thing that makes this game so good is the challenge.

I personally do not use the online play, so I cannot review that right now, but my friends say it is just for people who are not good enough to do it on their own.

A very very good game but requires buckets full of patience.

This game is without doubt one of the best. On this, you can do just about everything you can on Monster Hunter Freedom 1 and a lot more. The new monsters are so brilliant and the new weapons are just as good. The names of the places are the same but inside they are totally different to the first game, except the forest and hills which (personally) is great as it is. With new monsters and weapons, you can expect a longer game, and at times, more of a challenge. Anyone who liked the first monster hunter, will love this game twice as much!! It really is worth getting!!

as said before, takes about an hour to get into it, but this hour is well worth it! once you find a weapon type that tickles your fancy, there are 11 so there will be something for you, lances, guns, warhammers. immense game, would definately recommend, and if like me you only played the Monster Hunter on the PS2 and not quite sure about getting it.... GET IT absolutely brilliant game, what more can i say?

Having clocked in over 1100 hours with MHF 1 you could say I was looking forward to MHF 2. Without doubt there is a lot more of the same that made the original game turn normal people into obsessive, 'sleep can wait' monster hunters; great landscapes, ambient music and effects, expandable characters/weapons/armour etc There is a big difference though in that they've made the game easier for newbies to get into. It probably took me 6 months of regular, obsessive game play with MHF 1 to get say some "36 armour" and a decent "750 sword" i.e. it was very hard to develop your character and to progress! Being so hard and demanding so much gametime meant that many players just gave up after a few weeks - only the true diehards would stick around to slay the Fatalis. With MHF 2, I got to those same armour and weapons ratings in only a few days of gameplay. So this should mean that newcomers to the game will stick around a lot longer to enjoy the awesome benefits that the latter stages of the game will inevitably deliver. Over and above the new weapons, armour, monsters, maps etc there are some nice touches: downloadable quests ("Crabs & Monkeys" is available now), better navigation capabilities around the village and farm, easier farm item collection, more rewards while searching, group based training and for those of a more sentimental nature some maps from the original game are also accessible. I also bought the Japanses version of the game around 6 months ago and just to warn you that the games are not compatible e.g. the Japanese version cannot see European version characters in the Gatehring Hall.
