If you have played God of War on the PS2 then you will know what you are getting with this. Although it's a bit shorter than the PS2 versions it comes with all the trimmings. All the things that made the two PS2 games great are in here, nothing is sacrificed to get the game onto a handheld. Even the graphics are on par with the PS2 versions.

With the game being a prequel you don't need to of played the other 2 in the series either, so, if you have been wondering about God of War for a while now then this would be a great place to start.

Like I said, the game is a little short. Only took me 4 hours, but there is a bonus challenge mode that you can play through if your skill and patience can manage it. I couldn't, it made me sad. As soon as I had finished I restarted as well so I could collect all the secrets in the game and dress like a potato.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Great, little short but very gripping

This game is quite short at about 8 hours of gameplay and no multiplayer to increase its longevity, however, you cant realistically be expected a 20 hour epic on a psp and 8 hours will last at least 20+ train journeys home.

The game if fantastic with cinematic fights and mpressive combos which will take down the huge minotaurs and speedy sabre tooths. There is no doubt in my mind that you will praise it as your best psp game if you buy it, and at £17.99, there is absolutely no reason not to buy it!!!!1

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars God of all psp games!

This game is amazing. It doesn't really break any new boundaries but the graphics on it are amazing and the gameplay is so gripping - especially the big boss fights!
I thought it would get boring but it doesn't. For £18 you can't go wrong. I haven't completed it yet but even if you do complete it easily you can trade it in an get about at least £15 back on another purchase!

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars A fine prequel

I think appreciation of this game helps more if you are a fan of the original PS2 God of War titles. I am guilty as charged where this is concerned so it is logical for me to give it 5 stars.

Lets take the visual aspect of it first. You could safely call this one of the best looking PSP games ever made. In face you could go so far as to say it is one of the best looking handheld games available. Transistions between cut scene to gameplay is smooth with little to no stall time.
The control system is very easy to pick up for newcomers (an easy learn as you play tutorial compliments this). For the existing fans it is nearly identical to the PS2 games. (Only difference is the shoulder buttons are now pressed while moving to roll).
The story is just as engaging as the other games charting the course of Kratos right up to the point where he attempts suicide by jumping from the peak of Mount Olympus (as seen in the first game).
In conclusion, for a seasoned God of War fan this is an essential chapter in the life of Kratos to own. For a newcomer, I would knock the score down a little to 4 and recommend that after you play through it, that you work through the next two titles in the series for the PS2.
