Review

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood was a title that only the lucky gamers in Japan had the privilege of playing. Released on the long defunct PC Engine console to the type of critical acclaim that all of the Castlevania titles often get, it has remained an object of desire for all fans - until now.

Konami have reworked this unseen classic and are releasing it as the first PSP Castlevania title and to celebrate, have added two more titles as unlockable secrets within this fantastic disc. As well as the reworking of Rondo of Blood, players can also unlock the unedited version and discover a version of Symphony of the Night to boot.

Dracula X Chronicles retains all of the classic side scrolling elements that have made the Castlevania so popular, but uses the PSP capabilities to add 3D elements, some fantastic animated sequences and of course Widescreen capabilities.

The gameplay is classic Belmont - players must progress through a series of sprawling stages, using the trusty whip to slay enemies as well as uncovering some of the huge array of secrets and hidden areas within the levels. Giant boss characters await at regular intervals meaning players are thrown in at the deep end from the start.

Another integral part of the game is the music and this version is no exception with some fantastic audio sequences to keep your adrenalin up during the game.

It's FINALLY here!! I must admit I purely bought this game knowing that Castlevania SotN was a hidden game! It has to be THE best Castlevania there is! I loved it on the PS and now I love playing it on the PSP.

The main game is a bit tough, however, it'll make you keep wanting to better your ability to progress further into the game. The cut sequences are amazing and it'll most definitely have you gripped!

I absolutely recommend this game to any Castlevania fan!

Long live Alucard and the Belmonts!

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars just let me play the damn game

Finally, it's here! The best Castlevania game ever released for the PSP! ...except you have to jump through some pretty ridiculous hoops before you actually get to play Symphony of the Night.

Come on, I'm surely not the only person who bought this game just for the unlockable Symphony of the Night game.

The good news is, that the 2.5D take on Rondo of Blood is not a bad game at all. It's punishingly hard, but fair, in the spirit of the original Castlevania on the NES.

The real jewel here is still SotN.
