  A Fabulous entry in the street fighter Universe

| | See all Sefpayne's reviews (3)

Its odd to say that this is a new entry in the world of street fighter. Because its not really new. Its more like a collectors edition of a classic crammed onto a small UMD. However, this game runs and plays marvelously. Heres why;

This game has not been upascaled, nor has it been tweaked for the PSP. but, its been coompletely reworked, and it shows. The graphics may not be 3D, but the art design and animations hold up well today, just as they did when it was first released on the Original Playstation.

Gameplay is also very intuitive. However, those who are useto using the d-pad, or even the large analogue nub of the Dual shock, may find these controls a little tricky at first. It is also rather easy to get the hang of, and once you do, its a very blissful experience.

The sound is by far the games greatest achievement. Its phenominal. The music, menu sounds and sound fx are truly amazing. Stick some quality earphones on, and play this game the way its meant to be!

My own issue is the initial loading times. It does take rather long to get to the games main manu. This on the other hand is a rather minor setback, and does not deter the game from its finest moments.

All in all, a solid fighting game for the PSP and the definitive version of alpha 3. A HD version would be great for the Next gen systems, but I dont see that happening any time soon. Well we can hope lol.

After a recent PSP purchase I decided to invest in this game and I am glad I did, this is by far the best version of Street Fighter available in terms of characters, options and modes. The graphics still look great, the gameplay is perfect and unlike others I have had no problems at all with the special moves - a must have for fighting game fans.

  Great, but...

Excellent game. Special moves can be tricky to pull off on the original PSP - haven't played on the slim PSP. Original SF2 soundtrack is missing though. I was so looking forward to hearing the music from back in the day. Oh well...

I recently brought a PSP Slim/Lite & when i found out that Street Fighter was out on PSP i just had to buy it. I played nearly all the old Street Fighter games dating back to Snes,GBA,PS1,PS2. The PSP one is great with loads of new opitions,graphics are brill!,sound is top. You will not regret buying this game for your PSP if you are Street Fighter fan this game is for you!!!

Now we gotta wait for Street Fighter 4 for PS3 :D

This is a near perfect port of one of the best fighting games ever created. There are vast amount of modes you can play through and the graphics are superb.

Highly recomended.

  Pretty much perfect

I've owned nearly every home version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 and this has to be my favorite. It has the most modes (including a great Marvel Vs Capcom style mode where you can switch between two characters at any time during a fight), the most characters and it's portability means it's a far better buy than the cut down GBA version. I've heard people complain that the controls on the older PSP make this game hard to play, but I have a Slim and have no problem whatsoever performing the special moves with the d-pad and even the analog thumbstick. The original game is pretty old now, but the graphics still look great, the gameplay classic and the announcer... well he's still annoying but after all this time it wouldn't seem right to remove that. My favorite fighting game by far on the PSP and on any format seeing as how I can carry this in the PSP around in my jacket pocket. A superb conversion. Cheers Capcom for this game, and to Play.com for the bargain price.
