Quite a few final fantasy fans disliked this game due to the battle system being slightly different compared to the previous ones. No random encounters plus a few other factors. However i thought this made a nice change as it was something fresh rather than the same thing all over again not that i disliked the random encounters. Also i felt the boss battles were more intense and there is a gambit system which is extremely useful.
I have played final fantasy 7, X, X-2 and 12 (I plan on starting 8 and 9 soon) so far 12 is my favourite (Although i don't think the story is as good as 7 or X i still think the gameplay is a liitle better and its by far the final fantasy i have spent the most time playing). Don't get me wrong i do love 7 and X almost as much but 12 is my favourite.

been playin for over a hundred and ten hours and still not done everything. crackin game.

this is at present the top spot for the ff series it's dark just like vagrant story and the artwork is very similar to vagrant story as well. I have to confess i love vagrant story and this has given it a run for it's money. I didn't like all the fluffy stuff with 9 and the ending for 10 was a bit of a let down, 8 was not enough adventure more go there now and get it done while 7 has too much of the materia thing, was a bit frustrating to have your guys on high levels and struggle with mini bosses and then when you get certain materia it bacame alot easier. i love the gambits feature too many times i wanted characters to automatically do things and this is by far the most comprehensive method of character direction. AWESOME

The 12th of the series is brill. Graphics are cool story line is top FF quality. Took me over 70 hours to finish so it has good play value. Only down side is the new Battle system and the gambit feature, yes its a new thing and it works but I prefer the old skool random battles. Not the best Final Fantasy but still brilliant.

Really after the FFVII and FFX and the childish FFX-2 i expected a trully epic game since its development lasted so long.It is not the typical romance story as previous ff's but without doubt i can say it was the best battle mechanic from all ff's so far taking the best elements from FF series and in my opinion many elements from WoW(gambits reminded me quite much macros,and the whole tanking point).HUGE.EPIC.Many summons(unfortunately not so useful as in the past).Nice Chars.Dark Story.I can say without doubt the second best FF ever.

I've played all the Final Fantasy Series Through all the platforms and have been stunned by this Fantastic piece of Programing. I Love this game and think it is quite simply the BEST in the full series with well over 30 hours of playing time available for those die hard fans of RPG.

Personally though I've not found a game this entertaining since the release of "The Lord of the Rings : The Third Age"

Definateley a Five Star Masterpiece.

the only problem is that this game takes a while to get going but when it does it is insane and amazin to play all the way thro!

all though i dont like the new battle system and you dont get aeons it was really good.
i look for good graphics and a good storyline in game and in this one ive probly found the best of both.

I think Square went overboard on this game the graphics are amazing but you are to busy enjoying the scenery to play the game . the pc based game play is the worst ever should scrap that whole idea. The story is confuseing and a bit boring. Most people i know didnt understad it untill the second time round.Not all bad tho the game di have some good points the license system was a great idea because each character isnt limited to specific weapons also it has a number of mini quests such as the hunts clan which takes alot of time and effort to complete especially the last mark yaizamt (personally defeated in 1hour).
