In 1996, the original Tomb Raider was launched. The 3D game design, controls and graphics were truly ground breaking for their time. Furthermore, gamers were also presented with a unique, female human playable character with whom they could become emotionally attached, Lara Croft. The original Tomb Raider sold over seven million copies and is still heralded as an absolute classic and one of the best action adventure games ever!

Inspired by the original Tomb Raider video game; Tomb Raider: Anniversary faithfully preserves the elements which made the original Tomb Raider game such a classic.

Using an enhanced "Tomb Raider: Legend" game engine, the graphics, technology and physics bring Lara's adventure and pursuit of a mystical artefact known only as the Scion right up to today's technology standards and will offer gamers a completely new gameplay experience.

Celebrate and commemorate ten years of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft with Tomb Raider: Anniversary, an entirely new gameplay experience inspired by the first ever Tomb Raider adventure.

Play the living Lara Croft, the world's greatest action heroine of all time - use all of Lara's guile, athleticism and gadgets in her quest to conquer the unknown and uncover ancient artefacts.

Includes classic environments from the original Tomb Raider as never experienced before: Crystal Dynamics latest technology allows you to fluidly manoeuvre Lara using her latest moves and gear, through all the worlds from the original - Peru, Greece, Egypt and more. The dynamic world allows multiple playthrough options and also opens up new places and ways to explore.

Explore uncharted and mysterious worlds: Enter into strange, undiscovered lands and solve their deepest, darkest mysteries, open doors to new realms, uncover great rewards and unearth secrets to Lara's past.

Startling enemy encounters: Encounter fierce animal and supernatural enemies, wolves, bears, crocodiles, horrific monsters and the T Rex. New and improved AI means that all enemies will exhibit a more diverse behaviour set, providing improved combat challenges for the player.

After Tomb Raider II the franchise went down hill, the reason why the original Tomb Raider (TR) was such a success was not down to Miss Croft but down to the level design.
For TR Anniversary what those lads at Crystal Dynamics have done is to re image the original TR. you will find your self in a few environments that you don't remember, but for most of the time you will enter an area and feel all Nostalgic.
What is great is that though the puzzles are still there you may find that you now have to solve them in a different way.
My most memorable moment was stepping on the hand of king Midas, so when I found my self in the same room again I just had to kill Lara again for old time's sake. This is what I loved about TR the puzzles and the environments, TR is not a shoot em up it's a puzzle platform game
All the levels are there and it's just like playing the original TR through rose tinted glasses.
If you have played TR Legends then you will find control of Lara a breeze as they are exactly the same.
I like the fact that they have remade this and not messed with what made TR great in the first place.

A superb remake of the Playstation classic

Happy Birthday Lara! And a very happy birthday it is because the first adventure of Lara Croft just got a whole lot better!

The game is extremely enjoyable and provides plenty of gameplay time. It is filled with challenging levels which players of the original will remember but at the same time, the game has some of its own qualities which are very welcome as they only provide a better game.

The graphics are some of the best ever seen on the aging Playstation 2. I could not believe the quality of some parts of the game. The graphics really do push the Playstation 2 hard and it's worth it, especially when the graphics are fairly close to what is possible on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

The levels are huge and there are plenty of puzzles for you to become involved in. There are a generous amount of enemies to kill and the battle between Lara and the T-Rex is mind blowing and will really make fans of the original very happy. The enemy AI is surprisingly quite smart and will challenge the player somewhat.

Lara moves elegently and can leap and swing from various places. She interacts with the surroundings well and moving items is not awkward.

The main criticism about this game has to be the camera. Whilst generally it is good, there are moments in the game when you cannot move the camera to get a better view. Often, Lara will jump and you will have to hope she gets to where she is going successfully because you couldn't see where you were supposed to be going. The camera is especially frustrating when Lara is attatched to a wall by her grapple and you have to jump from the wall to a pillar or other area and the camera stops at the wall providing very little if no viewing area.

On the whole, this game is very good and is an exceptional remake of the original combining well known moments from Tomb Raider and new ideas to submerge players into Lara's first adventure again.

         Lara back on form!!

Wow!! What a game! Recieved it on Thursday (a day early as pre-ordered) and have already played it to level 4. I was one of the many to play TR1 but this is fab. The rage bar with the animals took a while to get use to but the graphics make you watch in amazment. So recommend to everyone. The score keeps you clasping for your controller and the graphics and storyline are so worth the play. Loved Legend but this beats it hands down. Love the cut-scenes.

Not a Prince of Persia rip off!

Like many Tomb Raider fans, I hold the original TR as the best of the series. With Anniversary, they've just about managed to capture the same atmosphere from TR1 and made a truly amazing game. One of the levels, St. Francis Folly in my opinion, is one of the best examples of great level design I've ever seen.

I'm also a Prince of Persia fan and although control wise they are a bit similar, Tomb Raider Anniversary takes it a bit further with manual grabs and other good moves.

        Buy it!
