The Playstation 2 has had a heck of a 7 year run, and at the end we're still seeing amazing titles released for it. Many gamers might ignore Odin Sphere just based on its J-RPG roots and cutesy art style. To do so would be a huge mistake. Vanillaware and Atlus have teamed up to make one of the most enjoyable, unique, and visually appealing titles the veteran PS2 has ever seen. With a brawler foundation and borrowing from several other gameplay styles, Odin Sphere should appeal to old-school gamers, RPG fans, and even button-mashers alike. Do yourself a favor and pick up Odin Sphere before it becomes the rare cult classic it's destined to be.

Odin Sphere offers 2D Game play but it is repetative and can get annoying. although looking good there are a few good aspects to the game but overall no... you can run in a circle so the levels are time looped and the levels can be completed in 1 minute ( I have done this).

This game might look a bit outdated to the new generation of gamers used to high end graphics of Final Fantasy and the like but old school gamers and lovers of the fine details will most certainly love this gem. The game offers not only a fascinating, enchanting and complex story with charming characters but also a visual feast for the eyes with detailed and beautiful hand drawn backgrounds and graphics.

The soundtrack is also nothing short of being marvelous and complements the scenery and characters perfectly. Especially the opening score and battle scores add to a flair of an old fairy tale or theatrical performance. The voice acting is well done, sometimes a little overdramatic but overall fitting for the fairy tale appeal of the whole game with a hint of Shakespear.

The only noteworthy downsides are the loading time and the frame slow-downs when things get abit too hectic during major battles but that aside, Odin's sphere is one of the best games to honour the PS2 with it's presence. Defenitely worth it!!
