this slimline model looks mint, and it is, it's so small compared to the original one and also very light, however it says it's "Internal volume has been reduced by 75%" i'm not sure about that, i think it is slightly quieter than the original PS2, but not 75% quieter. but meh the original PS2 was never "loud" anyway, so it's a gravy. also a little note, the power lead is different from the original big PS2, so if ur gunna buy a slimline one, make sure u buy one with the leads.

the ps2 has sold more units than any other console ever and counting.
dont overlook this if you are looking for a bargain. for the price of 2 ps3 games you could have a great machine. capable of surround sound and online play. though i dont know how many people you will find. someonew else reviewing said that it does not look good on an hdtv. that is not the case it looks very good as long as you have a conponent cable. plus the ps2 has so many realy cheap bargain games for it. gran turismo 4 is still way better than any xbox 360 racer plus you can pick it up used for £5. also the other reviewer did say that the ps2 was barely more powerfull than the sega. not the case it has approximately a third more processing power to be precise. whilst the game cube generaly i would say has a quarter more powerthan the ps2. one last thing is that thegame cube and xbox when their newer consoles came out they especialy microsoft tried to sweep the xbox under the carpet like it didnt exist and emediately stopped making controllers and other things like cables for it. this is not the case with sony as they will continue to make these machines for a good while longer.

The PS2, in my opinion, completely smashed all of the competition in the sixth generation. Yes, i know, the xbox is more powerful, but the playstation 2 is so much more desirable. Dvd playback is excellent, especially with the remote control. Excellent array of games: san andreas, gran Turismo 4 (my personal favorite), black, mercenaries, need for speed most wanted, and it just goes on. Online play's not too good but who needs it if you've got a PS2. Annoying that the gc and xbox have 4 controller posts though, i've never really wanted to go out and by a multitap. Nice and quiet. (Except for the very first models) great size. If you're like me and can't afford to spend 100's of pounds on a Next gen console, and want something affordable but great, buy this now. I will make the leap to next gen eventually, but only when my PS2 finally packs out. I got my PS2 3-4 yrs ago second hand. Its one of the oldest models. SO, LIKE I SAID, UNLESS YOUR LOADED, GET ONE NOW!

The Playstation 2 is an amazing console. It may be 8 years old but there's life in the old dog yet. It is small and compact so it easily fits into your living space, its quiet, doesnt use alot of energy or emit a lot of heat. It makes a brilliant DVD or CD player and it has been very reliable for me. The games are where its at though, and here the dimunitive machine excels. For kids there is plenty of titles based on there movies and cartoons, for familys their is the Eyetoy range of games and for Hardcore gamers there is titles such as Resident Evil 4, God of War & Final Fantasy. Don't feel the need to pigeon hole yourself though as whatever your tastes the PS2 will have something to suit. Ignore the flashy new consoles with thier HD graphics (and high price tags) and give the old guard a try. Here's to you PS2.

This year should be PS2's long over due demise.. The incredibly low powered console is little more power than the Dreamcast, but dwarfed by the Gamecube & Xbox, 2 & 3 times more powerful respectifully. The PS2 outdone its competitors mainly due the the original Playstations' success, but I feel PS2 never lived up to its predecessors experience, only the original GTA3, Final Fantasy's and Okami being of an overall good quality. and Guitar Hero series for playability. Not hyped up games like Devil May Cry & God of War or Max Payne.. Black was too late to be good, as Halo had set the bar far too high..
Anyway, back on track. At some point soon is a £50 to £60 PS2, good for people who have the 40GB PS3, although it's better used on a standard TV (the PS2), I know I've tried, it's very ugly to look at.. This year will be it's final games.. So, it'll be an excellent opportunity to raid the bargain basket. I myself am waiting for the final, and even smaller PS2.. shame it's not wireless controllers. only comment about online gaming is you get what you pay for...

I've just purchased a Playstation 2 Console from Play.com for just £65 during one of their bank holiday sales. I also got an official PS2 memory card from another source for just £6, and i'm having the time of my life with this unit. I've never been interested in leaping straight into buying one of the next generation consoles of Nintendo Wii, Sony PS3's or the Microsoft XBox 360. Part of my reason is that the cost of the units are on the high side (I do like to eye a bargain), and that I believe that each of these consoles have reliability issues of one kind or another. I'm having the time of my life with my PS2, with some great games such as God of War 2, Black, and Global Defence Force to name but a few games I've managed to get. I will eventually make the leap to a next generation console, but at the moment I'm happy to carry on with this great unit. Go out and get one today.

had a ps2 now since they came out. Though I have recently upgraded to a ps3 I will never through this little console away as I beleive it is a classic console and will never be forgotten. Great bargain for a starting gamer.

Great machine. Reliable, small, quiet and with a massive library of now cheap games. Classics like GTA III, Vice City, Devil may Cry, Resi Evil 4, God of War 1 and 2, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Prince of Persia. All the sports games like FIFA, Pro Evo, SmackDown vs. Raw. Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3, Bully, Okami, Socom, the list goes on. Lots of accesories including the Eye Toy, Guitar Hero, Buzz, Sing Star, Light Guns. There are some down sides to the PS2 however. Only newer games have quite fast load times, the graphics arent even as good as the GameCube, nevermind the Xbox, the in-game sound is only Pro Logic II (older games are only Pro Logic I or Stereo) not 5.1 Dolby Digital and while you can play online for free, it's nowhere near as good as Xbox Live, £40 a year is a small ammount to pay for the great service you get on there. Finally, it isn't worth 90 quid because it came out 7 years ago. The positives out weigh the negatives though, fantastic games (better than a lot of the games on 360 and PS3 so far), variety of games, cheap games, and just plain fun. This machine can appeal to everyone.
