5 A superb end to an epic series...Chrissy0jay | 07/05/2007 | See all Chrissy0jay's reviews (40)Top 100 Reviewer Top 10 Games Reviewer For those of you who played (and enjoyed!) kingdom hearts 1 and chain of memories, you probably already have this to be fair...this review is for those new to kingdom hearts.Back in september when this came out, i bought it for 40 quid i was so desperate to play it...and i was glued to my ps2 for weeks. Let me just tell you now, the other reviews are right...if you don't get this for a measly 9.99, there's something wrong with you. The exploration element of the game is wonderful, allowing you to explore huge and detailed disney worlds, from port royal to agrabah, each lovingly crafted and filled with characters that do and say what you would expect them to say (both the FF cameos and disney characters). Loads of worlds are included and all of them not only have their own storyline, but add beefy punch to the main one (which is amazing!) The next third of the game is the main meat, which is the combat...and is it fun! You see enemies in the exploration environment, and you then begin to fight them in free-form combat, with up to two other characters assisting you AI controlled. Sora is a joy to control, and can rip off huge sword combos on the ground and in the air, flick to magic, block, roll, perform extravagant finishing moves, and special context sensitive moves on bosses and most enemies (involving stuff like grabbing a chandeleir and swinging around it before dealing a massive deathblow to the enemy). The combat never gets boring and there are so many different enemies to fight (with sepiroth being the ultra-hard secret boss battle!). The last third of the game comes in TONS of minigames and little sidequests that you can do, including blade and item synthesis, skateboarding, arena combat, sticking up posters (I kid you not!), wrapping presents, shooting things out of the sky....the list is endless, and they all provide a welcome break from the combat, but after a quick bash leave you longing to cave in some heartless faces again...and you are free to do so! And lastly, the game as usual for all Square enix titles, includes a msmerising score and brilliantly done sound effects, which just reek of pure quality and excellent voice acting from start to finish. The music sets each scene perfectly and really draws you in.To be frank, this game took me in the region of 60 hours to complete properly (this included COMPLETELY filling my journal (Kingdom hearts is very good for completion perfectionists!), doing all sidequests, and maxing out to level 100) and i didn't even finish the main story until the 50 hours mark. You can have so much fun with this game and it is really one of the best experiences that the ps2 can offer...in short, it shouldnt be selling for 9.99, as it's an utter clasic...come on guys, square enix deserve more than this. Buy this title if you like RPG's, action adventures, or any other game by square enix. You won't be dissapointed, I promise you.
