If you're thinking of buying this just for a bit of fun, you'll probably not be too disappointed... If, however, you are a fan of the NFS series, or of racers in general, this is not for you.
If you want a modern NFS release that lets you run from the law, get Most Wanted, otherwise you're as well going for Underground 2.
Undercover removes a lot of the customisation features that were popular in other NFS releases, and fails to make significant use of the Free Roam feature, first seen in Underground 2... Here it is relegated merely to an opportunity to test your cars and annoy the police, rather than being an integral part of the game. You can complete the entire game without ever having to use Free Roam, rather like Underground 1. For drag and drift lovers, sorry... Neither of those race types are included.
As a fan of the NFS series, I personally found this offering somewhat disappointing. EA have failed to include many of the features that made previous releases more interesting, whilst also failing to remove a few annoying glitches (rectified other platforms with a downloadable patch).
In brief, for those new to the NFS series, or just looking for a racer to kill some time with, Undercover will serve adequately. For lovers of the Need For Speed games, stick to Underground 2 or Most Wanted, both were superior games to Undercover by far.
