Poor King Trode has been turned into a troll, his daughter Princess Medea into a horse and his subjects into brambles. His kingdom, Trodain, is frozen in time.
The story begins as you, the hero (one of the King's guards), and your eccentric band - King Trode, the Princess and a reformed bandit named Yangus - arrive at the town of Farebury in search of an evil jester named Dhoulmagus. He is the madman responsible for stealing a forbidden sceptre from King Trode's castle and cursing the whole kingdom. Now he roams the land killing innocent victims. It's full of numerous, wonderful touches you'll remember long after the game's end - a cheeky little devil's Sultry Dance attack, which cause your party members to dance uncontrollably; the way the blue slimes do deadpan better than Bill Murray; even the way saving your game requires a trip to the church to confess.
The game is amazing, amazing graphics, fun gameplay, brilliant characters and voices. The only flaws in this game are those which anyone who plays RPGs have come to expect. i am 80hrs through this game and at least 15 hrs were spent looking for battles because you need to level up A LOT before each boss battle, the random battles are frequent but that still isnt enough to prepare you for each boss. If you dont mind putting in a lot of effort to find out what will happen next then this will become one of your favourite games.
Y'no the japanese live for there rpg's this one in particular they were campin outside shops and queing for miles when this was released even top businessmen were having sick days just to play this game...and i can see why its simply stunning lets start with the hero hes got so much personality and charm in his lil finger than most heroes in rpg's & he dont say a word the entire game how can they pull that off, its because level 5 (rogue galaxy, dark chronicle) are genius's everything in this game the cheesy plot, villages, castles, dungeons and the people who inhabit this beautiful world wreek of charm and charisma. There is never a dull village or person to speek to which is rare for an rpg and there's so much to do and see, i clocked in at around 110 hours and i nowhere near finished it 100% the only thing that ever so slightly lets it down is the turn-based battles an it takes way too long to level up even for die-hards but despite that its a really enjoyable experience.
