Thor: The Videogame will delve deep into the heroic tales of the Thor universe. Eisner Award-winning writer and lead Thor comic book author Matt Fraction brings authenticity to the narrative as a story consultant, and elevates the story beyond the comic and movie universe throughout the videogame. Players will take on an array of ancient enemies and beasts from the many worlds of Norse mythology by using different battle strategies and elemental powers. The sacred Mjolnir, Thor's legendary hammer, will allow players to command the powers of the storm: wind, thunder and lightning. By earning Valor in combat throughout the game, players will also be able to select from a wider range of abilities, acquire new attacks, powers and upgrades.

Each version of the game is being developed to take advantage of individual platform's strengths. The PS3 version will feature cinematic, third-person action gameplay with melee combos, ranged hammer throws, tide-turning elemental powers and an upgrade system to bolster Thor's powers as gamers progress.

  • Brought to the Marvel Universe by the legendary Stan Lee and his brother Larry Lieber, and penciled by noted artist Jack Kirby, Thor first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1962. Based on Norse mythology, the Marvel character of Thor became a comic book Super Hero both in his own right and as a member of the Avengers alongside comic book icons The Hulk, Iron Man and Captain America. Thor: The Videogame marks the character's progression from mythology to comics, TV, then film and now to interactive entertainment in his first standalone appearance in a videogame

  • While taking its inspiration directly from the mythology of the comics, Thor: The Videogame will launch around the time of the upcoming Thor film adaptation from Marvel Studios

 Very poorly executed

Game lovers beware: this product has done nothing to push the boundaries of a gaming experience, (that's what we are after) in fact it doesn't even come close.
There comes a lack of inventive gameplay, and some not-quite-so-bad ideas like the grapple system are poorly executed, and this is evident when it gets to gameplay. A terrible display of character creation is interwoven with a cringe worthy motion of events (in particular minor cut scenes such as icicles appearing from the floor in a very PS2 manner), and the general timing of these events are rushed and, once again, poorly executed. A lack of fluidity in these parts is crushing to the experience of playing this game. Which brings the point back to graphics, which are very PS2. Not good enough for next gen when consumers are playing such titles as Uncharted2, God of War3, ArkhamA, Red.D.R, and nor with prospective upcoming products that have been labelled as surpassing these in game standards.

Norse lovers despair: As a fan of Norse mythology, and an avid admirer of Marvel's comic breed interpretation the game deals a severe blow to the mythos of these great tales, and the sorts of expectations fans of these had in their minds. Regardless of monetary cost, this is truly an upsetting title from the start for such fans. No need to think twice...
