- with as much panache and aplomb as ever!
It's Ridge Racer and if you've played RR6 then this is pretty much more of the same but with an enhanced online mode, a few more tracks and a really cool customisation mode where you can change the look, feel and performance of your favourite cars.
The best thing about RR7 is that it develops what was so cool about RR6 into a more together and complete experience. The bad thing is that it's really more RR6.5 than a fully fledged sequel.
Having said that if you're a fan of the series then you'll no doubt have a lot of fun with the various tweaks and new tracks and if you've never played a Ridge Racer game and are in the market for some arcade racing action (Think Outrun but with a smoother and more satisfying drift) then Ridge Racer 7 should fit the bill very nicely indeed.
Gran Turismo and Forza it is not. Sheer unadulterated fun that constantly rewards and provides a genuine challenge in later levels it most definitely is.
I'm only awarding 4 out of 5 because it's really not that much of a change from Ridge 6. In my heart it's a 5* all the way, though, and I've got 26 hours (and counting) of game time to back that up!
i played this the first day and i was dissapointed expected more rubbish game
If you have played this game on the older consoles and liked it you will like RR7, this game was never a realistic driving game but an arcade style racer, i loved it. What i will say tho is if you want a realistic driving game stay clear.
I have been playing this game for a few days now. Its good fun, 2 player races can keep you entertained for hours. I agree that the graphics are no way as good as something Like MotorStorm, in fact i haven't seen a game yet that lives upto Motorstorm!
The driving style is totally arcade style, long powerslides and no real sense of control over the car but somehow you manage to get round the corners normally by the computer seemingly helping.
Its a good arcade style driving game, not aimed at realism.
If you want fun fast and easy - get this
If you want incredible graphics and endless realism(almost) and gameplay - get MotorStorm
This game is a racing game in which you drift, kinda like Too Fast Too Furious: Tokyo Drift.
Firstly it is ridiculously easy. When you're in a straight line you follow whoever is in front of you until you get nitrous then overtake them. At the corners the technique is to drift only a tiny bit. This can be dialled within an hour of game play.
Secondly, the re-playability is poor. You o through different racing leagues and get upgrades, etc.. but they're all the same! The cars all look the same, but are supposedly faster!
The only saving grace is the offline multiplayer.
