Virtua Fighter 5 will deliver fast-paced, adrenaline-pumping action as players head into battle, taking on a host of popular characters. The game will introduce two new dynamic characters, El Blaze and Eileen, complete with new fighting techniques and from completely different backgrounds. Play as one of the 17 default characters in the game or customize a character to become the top Virtua Fighter. Players will be able to modify their characters by selecting from four base costumes and then decorate them by attaching a wide range of unlockable and earnable items. Players will not only achieve victory by defeating highly-skilled opponents, but also by competing for prizes and earning in-game money allowing them to buy many items at an in-game shop. Further building upon the depth of the series, players will now be able to move around their opponent using an "Offensive Move" technique, adding a new strategic element to their battles.

Two New Characters: El Blaze and Eileen round out the cast of 17 dynamic fighters. El Blaze is a Mexican wrestling champion that uses the Lucha Libre fighting style, and Eileen, originally from China, uses Kou Ken (Monkey Kung Fu style) which she learned from her grandfather.

Breathtaking HD Quality Graphics: Stunning highly-detailed 3D fighting environments inspired by locations around the world allow players to challenge their opponents in unique types of arenas. Next-Gen presentation includes HD resolution (widescreen) and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

Character Customisation: Customise characters with the enhanced attachment system and customisation engine giving players more flexibility than ever before when creating their characters.

New "Offensive Move" System: Strategic fighting is the order of the day with the new Offensive Move, meaning you can attack opponents from the side.

Unique Character Moves and Fighting Styles: Individualised martial arts moves and styles for each character.

The real truth about this game... Everyone please read.

Ok, here is my view on this game. Please note that this is the first time i've played Virtua Fighter and my background is Tekken and Dead or Alive...

This game is truly the best 3D beat'em up game today. The graphics are definitely really impressive and this is strongly apparent on a HD screen! There is no other fighting game that features characters looking this detail (fact) and the sound effects & music is top notch. In fact, if you want something that looks "next-gen" on your PS3 other than Gran Turismo HD then this is 100% it!

I was really hesistant to try this game the first time round so to be safe, I decided to read a lot of comments and reviews. After the reading, I've discovered that some of the most recognisable comment were people saying they found it difficult to get into. The truth is this... If anyone say that then do not listen to them. If you're looking for a fighting game that performs really cool looking without much thought applied into it, or if you're looking for something with Street Fighter related move executions then you're barking up the wrong tree. Many people grew up with Street Fighter in mind so, naturally, that's the only game they would know and would expect many other fighting game to follow a similar route. The absolutely truth is this game is very easy to get into (it only uses 3 button!! 3 BUTTONS!!!), especially once you've accepted that it is different from the rest and you're willing to figure out why. Also, it is very easy to notice how far you can go into this game in regards to depth (take a look at VFTV or some of the video plays on Youtube) and that puts people off which is a major shame. Truth is, many people are very lazy when it comes to beat'em up which is why they're into game like Dead or Alive and Tekken as it doesn't require that much thought and they're also cover with plenty of bells and whistle but containing little substance.

Simply put, if those games are the Checkers/Draughts of fighting game then Virtua Fighter 5 is definitely the Chess. It will provide you hours upon hours of entertainment which will escalate if you have some good friends to play against. The fighting makes sense, the game feels very balance and you will get so much out from it. Get this game for sure if you have got some good friends - Otherwise get the Xbox 360 version which will allow you to play online - and definitely get it if you're a person that appreciate martial arts as this is one of the most realistic ones out there.

         Not too bad

This game was a gift off a friend. The first time we played it was 2 player and it was pretty good. The graphics and sounds are good. The backgrounds are fantastic in the arenas. If you get knocked to the deck the ground gets damaged. The game also sustains some interest as some fighters are tougher than others. However I would reccomend only buying the game if you have mates

Great looking but a bit dull

The latest installment of the popular Virtua figher series is a massive graphical leap into next gen territory. My problem is that the gameplay doesn't seem to have evolved with it. Don't get me wrong it's great fun bashing the punch and kick buttons but in the end it all seems a bit random. I think if you take the time to learn a character things could be different, but frankly I would rather invest the time in a more entertaining game.

        Resistance anyone??????????

Good game, but watch out for button bashers lol

this game is awesome, the graphics is good, the fighting is fun, but the controls can be alil complex, and button bashing owns, my sister always beats me by button bashing and it's starting to get a tad annoying lol.

so apart from my sister beating me every single time, i still think it's an awesome game :D

         best fighting game
