Introducing the next stage in the evolution of the guitar game. Rocksmith, the first and only game where you can plug any real guitar into your console and actually learn while you play.

Nothing plastic. Nothing fake. Just the most authentic guitar experience in music gaming. By plugging into your console, you'll develop real skills and real styles while playing absolutely real music.

Featuring gameplay that automatically adjusts to your personal ability and innovative game design that makes playing music visually intuitive, Rocksmith will engage experienced musicians as well as those who have never picked up a guitar in their life.

You'll unlock mini games to hone specific skills. You'll be able to choose from a large catalog of songs in different styles. And you'll experience it all with an honest-to-goodness guitar. Nothing compares to playing a real guitar. Except playing Rocksmith.

The game will include the brand new Bass Mode, offering players the opportunity to play bass guitar on all supported on-disc and downloadable songs.

Not only can players play the bass parts of songs, but bassists of all experience levels can also improve their skills with dedicated bass technique challenges and tutorial videos. Players can even use any 6-string guitar to emulate a 4-string bass. Tracking their learning has never been easier as bass progression is tracked separately from guitar progression.

Last but not least, all songs can be played in multiplayer with one person playing the bass part and the other the guitar part.

  • When we say any guitar we mean any guitar: Whether it's the guitar sitting in your attic, your cherished faithful steed, or the guitar you have yet to buy, Rocksmith lets you plug any guitar into your console or computer. Electric guitar or electro-acoustic one, as long as it has a jack, you can play. No jack on your guitar? Head down to your local music store, get an inexpensive pickup, and problem solved.
  • Real time adjustment levels: from beginner to stage animal: You love a challenge, but hate being overwhelmed. Rocksmith understands that. With addicting gameplay that continuously adapts to your personal skill level, you will automatically progress from single notes to complex chords at your own pace. Eventually you'll be playing 100% of the real guitar parts from the songs and the game will challenge you to step away from the notes on the screen and play songs by memory. Imagine that. A game that'll get you stage ready.
  • Bursting with hits: Rocksmith includes an amazing library of international songs of many genres. Whether you fancy classic rock bands such as The Rolling Stones, The Cure, Lynyrd Skynyrd or if you're more into the latest hits of bands like The Strokes, Muse, Sigur Rós we've got you covered.
  • There's always a way to develop your guitar skills and overcome your difficulties: Having troubles with the solo of your favorite song? The riff-repeater option is your savior. It isolates the part of your choice of the song, and let you repeat it over and over ... until you eventually ace it! Want to learn chords? Improve scales? For all of these and more, there's a specific mini-game that we'll help you get it by turning your guitar into a controller!
  • Turn your TV or computer into an amplifier: No needs for an amplifier anymore, with Rocksmith your TV or your computer is your amplifier and will let you play with loads of in-game pedals, amplifiers and cabinets. String pedals together with nearly infinite combinations and tweak your sound until you're satisfied.
  • Play in multiplayer: Plug in a second guitar to go head-to-head with friends to see who can earn the highest score, or have fun playing cooperatively as lead and rhythm guitars
  • Brand new Bass mode: The game will include the brand new Bass mode, offering players the opportunity to play bass guitar on all supported on-disc and downloadable songs.

 Serious fun for aspiring guitarists

In my opinion this will teach anyone the necessary skills to be able to play the guitar, it starts off slowly and teaches you a few notes and gives you a chance to get a feel for the rhythm and tune. Once you pick it up it makes it a little harder by adding some more notes until eventually you are playing the entire song. This could take minutes, hours or days but given the time and practice you will do it.

Most of the featured tracks are fairly easy going, there's no Dragonforce, Slayer or Metallica. A shame maybe but I'm sure the majority of players won't be looking to become a shredder, but don't worry I'm sure they'd add these into the DLC if there's a market.

I've played guitar for 16 years and if I'm honest I struggled initially, it's a bit strange at first because it's a different way of learning to how I am used to but once you get into the mindset it becomes incredibly simple.

Pro guitarists are endorsing this and I really hope it takes off, it's not your standard rhythm game and it doesn't give you the party atmosphere but it will teach you the fundamentals of playing a real musical instrument. This is serious entertainment and not just your pick up and play plastic kids toy guitars.

Great product especially for those just learning to play. Hours spent over Christmas on Rocksmith. Daughter loves it - a real hit.

Hi guys. first off this game could be amazing, you use your own real guitar and the sound is great. The problems come with the audio setup. You are not meant to use hdmi with this game thats the first thing you will read once you've opened the box. If your whole system with ps3 and tv and everthing else is setup for hdmi then its a major pain to go switching around everything. I tried it with hdmi just to see why it's not recommended and there is a major lag between hitting the strings and sound from speaker so hdmi is out of the question. I tried it with component which made a slight improvement but not much and then composite which is the same all in all to cut a long story short the game just is not worth the hassle. I could not recommend this game to anyone.

Ive completed this game and having played guitar for a few years now i found it basic to begin with then it just gets better and better. Ideal for beginners and right through to the experienced guitarists/bassist. No fake plastic stuff here! Just fun playing your real guitar linked to your PS3. Play along with loads of great tunes and improve your skills along the way!
