Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction brings back our heroes in a brand new series for the PS3. This time Ratchet & Clank must embark on a galactic adventure to unravel the mystery of Ratchet's origin. This epic adventure will introduce new characters, new weapons, and all-new worlds for Ratchet & Clank to explore.
  • Insomniac Games has overhauled its proprietary PS3 engine technology to create the most visceral Ratchet & Clank universe yet, overflowing with exotic creatures and flying vehicles.
  • The PS3 system's superior power enables Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction to bring vivid worlds to life with increased draw distances, enhanced lighting and shadowing, and more fluid and exaggerated animations.
  • Discover an all-new galaxy spanning vast worlds such as a majestic cloud city and a space-age amusement park.
  • Encounter an entirely new cast of expressive characters (and some old favorites) as well as the introduction of a variety of new alien races and life forms.
  • Experience a more emotive Ratchet with nearly as many animation joints in his face as PS2 Ratchet had in his entire body. This joint density applies to many of the characters featured in Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, enabling more detailed, personable and expressive characters.
  • Clank returns as a playable character, and Ratchet will have new enhanced abilities.
  • Fire a fully stocked arsenal of all-new weapons such as the Plasma Beasts and Tornado Launcher, which uses the Sixaxis controller to direct tornadoes that suck up enemies and whip them around with debris.
  • Use the Sixaxis controller to maneuver, destroy enemies and solve puzzles.
  • Upgrade and customize weapons with a new system that provides greater power and flexibility. Players also will have the ability to upgrade Ratchet's armor.
  • Utilise Ratchet's new supply of consumable "on-demand' combat devices, such as the Groovitron, which causes enemies to dance uncontrollably to '70s disco hits.
  • Gadgets gameplay returns as Ratchet and Clank will have more gadgets at their disposal to help them bounce, fly, evade and defy gravity.
  • Pilot Ratchet's ship through asteroid fields while trying to destroy enemy fleets in a complete redesign of classic Ratchet & Clank space combat gameplay.

Seriously, more fun than anything the Wii can muster, graphically better than anything the 360 can handle.

If you 'aint already got a PS3 and Ratchet And Clank Future: Tools Of Destruction, what are you waiting for?

Can you complete the game 100%...Go ahead punk!!!

Quite simply stunning. Please feel free to go an d get an orange marker pen and add another star to your monitor. It really is that good.

If you are familiar with the previous Ratchet games then you will be able to load the game up, grab the game pad and jump right into the thick of it. Thats not to say that this is just a graphicially superior clone of the other Ratchet games...it not.

The graphics are stunning, and some of the worlds have to be seen to be appreciated. The sound is also first class, so crank up those surround sound systems and sit back and enjoy.

The game itself is MASSIVE, spread across a lot of different and very diverse planets and there are some very impressive end of level bosses which really show off the PS3's graphical prowess. There are some...how can I put it?...INSANE weapons that you can purchase and upgrade to even INSANER levels of power. Each weapon has a different effect on the enemy so you will have to discover which weapon to use against which enemy, as some will have no affect at all and you will end up getting your ass kicked!

There are also countless hidden bolts, crates, areas, blueprints and weapons to keep you playing for hours on end.

So be warned, this game is more addictive than crack. If you buy it then you can kiss you family and friends goodbye...(until you have finished it 100% that is...which will take a LONG time!!!)

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? CLICK "BUY NOW"...DOH!

a Fun, beautiful game for all ages

Top 100  Reviewer Top 10 Games Reviewer

To be honest this is the first Ratchet and Clank game I've played this upsets me as I saw what I had been missing all this time. This game is really fun and entertaining and is one of the few games I could be bothered to play through more than once.

The game starts when an alien war lord hunts ratchet down to destroy him for what his race did to the alien's race. From then on your job is to discover ratchets past, find out what happen to your race, and why this guy has it in for you.

The story is simple but effective and very fun with a lot of laughs on the way. As you travel from planet to planet you meet some very interesting and whacky characters some of which can be very helpful in your journey offering you weapons, gadgets or currency ... of course you getting nothing for free so in return you have to do them favours, such as collect monsters souls, complete various tasks, or pay for them etc. All the weapons you can get your hands on are upgradeable, adding extra ammo, distance to your shots, and of course more power. Very useful especially when you see some of the bosses you will be up against. As well as weapons to buy you can also buy new armour that becomes available from time to time again very useful but very expensive.

As well as fun weapons to play with there are also some cool gadgets to play with such as wings that will glide you to otherwise unreachable areas, and of course the bike thingy which is mainly used to get around pipes at high speed... which is always fun. Oh and don't forget your space ship. There are a couple of levels throughout the game where you can fly your ship destroying enemy ships collecting various collectables the levels are rail shooters so you can't control your ship freely but they are still allot of fun.

The graphics in the game are very nice the cartoonish look suits the game beautifully the sceneries are very nice to look at and the graphics on the characters are very detailed.

The game is a load of fun and if you want all weapon upgrades and armour you'll need to play through it twice but you won't get bored in fact the 2nd time through, since you keep all upgrades and weapons from your first time through, you may enjoy it even more, blasting your way through enemies and bosses that gave you a hard time before with ease.

The ending ends on a cliff hanger and I can't wait for the next game. I had a lot of fun with the game... twice the graphics are great the story is fun and there is plenty of humour to keep you entertained and as well as this there are plenty of weapons and gadgets for you to try out. Fun for all ages.

 This game is Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious !!

Ok. For those out there that want to know the real deal about this game. This review might be for you. I have never liked platform games. In fact, I hate them. This is mainly because once you tried about 100 times to reach the the top of the platform you would fall and have to try again to climb back up. This added to the headace puzzles you have to work out and the back tracking and maze finding really isnt my idea of having fun. I rather work a 24 hour shift in Mcdonalds than play these sort of games.

Because of this i was a bit sceptical when I received my copy of Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. I have played the Ratchet and Clank series on the psp before which didnt impressed me at all. I think I played about 3 minutes of it before I got a migraine.

After inserting the disk i was prompted with a few short logo's and a screen asking me to start a new game, load game and other options. No cinematics, no fancy introductions, not much of anything to be honest. Just ran straight into the game. I was mildly suprised as I normally have to wait a good 10 minutes before remotely having any fun. So, yes i didnt have time to go downstairs to make my cup of tea i normally do before the cinematics finished.

Anyway after the quick game creation I was shot into the game; headfirst. After a 5 second window to work out which button was it to jump and which button it was to attack I was bombaraded with explosions, imaginably cute monsters, bridges collapsing, being shot in the air, reapeatedly!, skating along poles in my grind rail boots and freefalling ! And this was just the introduction.

From there on the action never stoped. This game wont probably let you have breath so those with breathing disorders or epilepsy attacks might want to avoid. I really do feel sorry for you if you do however.

After the first few missions, the storyline and the characters, Ratchet (the cute fuzz ball with the pointy ears) and Clank (the even cuter robot disguised as a backpack on Ratchets back), really shines through. The storyline wasn't that hard to grasp and enjoy. Nothing to really think hard about.

When i was presented with my first weapon, a boozuka type gun which fired little firery missles in rapid sucession, i was thrilled. I had no idea that there were many many more even better weapons to come! The first boss was a some sort of sea monster crossed with a slug. I had no trouble putting this beast down and retrieved a pile of clanky crystals which I was told could help boost my weapons at the weapons shop.

Before i knew it, i became addicted to this game. The realitively straight forward gameplay, coupled with the stunning graphics, and bountyful of action just sucked me right in.

After 15 hour of playing, I have now reached a stage where i had thought this must be the end. There were so many things going on, multiple big bosses, Pirates fighting, big explosions. I thought this must be the end as it was so good. I didnt want it to end though. However it turned out that it wasnt. I have still yet to complete it.

Despite the relatively straight forward missions, you can see that after completion of the game, there are many many other things that you can do. There are missing maps peices and treasures scattered around the Universerse which you can seek out, arena fighting to test out your skills and earn more money, weapons to buy, and armor to upgrade.

There are many suprises. I really dont want to spoil this game for anyone who hasnt played it. It really is an experience I dont think i will ever forget. It was like playing Zelda all over again on the Super Nintendo. Thank you Insomniac!

I'll be honest.... I got this game free... I had no intention of buying it and didn't fancy it in the slightest. I was bored one afternooon and thought I'd give it a bash and see what it was like... I wiped the dust off and popped it in the console and you know what? It's actually really brilliant! Cartoony graphics, solid characters, good story and just generally brilliant fun. Not overly challenging so a bit of light relief from most of the other games I own across the various different platforms. When I want a little break from thinking too much on games I chuck this in and give it a whirl.
For me it's not the sort of game I'd be up all night playing but it's still worth some of your hard earned coins because as I said it is alot of fun and very much back to the basics of platform games that the likes of Crash Bandicoot got going back in the day.
The humour throughout the game is really very funny and thats from someone who doesn't just laugh at anything. I haven't completed this little gem yet because I get distracted with other games (Mass Effect anyone?!) but will work on this one over time.
You should definately buy this if you fancy a change of pace
