Developed by Tokyo-based tri-Ace Inc., Resonance Of Fate redefines the RPG genre with a unique storyline, highly stylised graphics, and an emphasis on realistic gunplay and engrossing action. Players will be immersed in a gritty, highly mechanised world unlike any other. With Hollywood-style action sequences, customisable weapons, and memorable characters, Resonance Of Fate takes players far beyond the boundaries of the typical RPG.

The latest game from Tri-Ace has been heavily overlooked by alot due to the recent big release of Final Fantasy XIII. But this game is amazing, and much better in my opinion. This game is an Action RPG, where you explore the steampunk world that is Basel. You play as the three main character, Zephyr, Vashyron and Leanne each one struggling with there past.

The story is very thin meaning you'll probably only see a few cutscenes a chapter but the gameplay in between is amazing. In Resonance of Fate, your characters are Gunslingers. They'll attack there enemies with either grenades, SMG's or Pistols while flying through the air or sliding across the ground while evading enemy fire while looking amazinglyflashy.

The graphics are pretty average, not where near the level of FFXIII, but so what? Don't that let you not play this game. This isn't one for the faint of heart the battle system is easy to learm, and very difficult to master. One false move and even a simple random encounter can end you. As mentioned before you can either use Pistols, SMG's or Grenades as weapons, Pistols and SMG's can both be daul wielded when you achieve a high enouh level and they both can be fully customized. Fancy sticking 4 scopes or 3 barrels on a pistol, go ahead. Though from I can tell, they don't visually change only stat wise, but it would look ridiculous with some of the weapons you can make.

While I'm on about customisation, you can fully dress your character from head to toe. Fancy changing someone's hair colour to silver or giving some red contact lenses, ypu can do it. Though it's a bit expensive purchasing stuff from the boutique, you will find plent of items just walking around.

The map system is also unique, you move a cursor around hexes and have to unlock tiles to move there. It takes a little getting used to but it's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. There's an array of sidequests to do, from item gathering or defeating a fearsome foe to inbetween the story. The difficulty curve may be a little steep and battles do take a little bit of strategy, but in the end you'll get the hang of it!

It may not be everyone's cup of tea but If you like guns, rpg, customisation, steampunk and great gameplay, definitely check this out 5/5.

 Amazing Game

As many people have already said this game is a little complicated to start off with however after a short period of time playing everything becomes very simple.
The graphics aren't bad but are slightly lacking in comparison to other games that are available. Resonance of Fate more than makes up for what it lacks in terms of graphics with its battle system and its customisation options. Both the characters and also your weapons can be customised a great amount throughout the game.
The story itself isn't as immersive as it could be however it does pick up towards the end. Another thing to mention is the humour that the game contains; I laughed a good few times watching some of the cutscenes and listening to the dialogue after battles.

The one real negative is how frustrating some of the battles can be, due to this though the sense of achievement once you win is pretty good. :P

Overall, the positives heavily outweigh the negatives. I would definitely recommend this game to any RPG fans.

Don't expect an old fashion FF style tutorial

long story short, the battle systerm is alittle complex so try get use to it in the trainning area. Don't expect an old fashion FF style tutorial, look around. Other wise you will feel like this game is just a waste of time.

The game is technical, so dont try going gun crazy on the first thing you see....other wise you will lose. Yep, FF13 battle systerm and graphics are better in a simple way, but trust me once you undestand this game youll be hooked.

If you get lost (hint) talk to the old man.....close to home.
World map is alittle confusing using "hex" to create your pathway forward. Just remember their are different types so dont worry. Also the more battles you fight, the more "Hex" for you to move forward.

After fighting throught 3hours to learn this game (was going to trade it) , its worth it. Graphics are good not as good as FF13, but the gameplay/action is excellent!

 The dreaded difficulty spikes.

I was really getting into the combat and story of RoF until I hit a number of difficulty spikes about 5-7 hours into the game, now I like a challenge with my games but only if they're challenging and fun. This is where RoF fails in my opinion, it is relentlessly unforgiving very early on and if you don't come prepared makes alot of the battles a real chore.

But despite it's flaws there are glimpses of what it could of been if they had got the balance right, it has excellent combat mechanics, which are complex at first but when you do get to grips with them, it is very fun and enjoyable.

I just wish they hadn't made the experience such a task, for this I just don't have the time or patience to keep at it. But if you are someone who does and enjoys a tough challenge then knock yourself out and give it ago. But if your relitively new to the genre like me, the difficulty may well dissolve any enthusiasm you have for the game.

This game is amazing in so many ways... The graphics are on another level! The story is compelling, cut scenes are incredible, and the battle system is very new and different compared to other RPG's such as the FF series, which makes it fresh!

It is a bit confusing at first to learn the controls etc, but once that is out of the way, it is a very fun game to play. Recommended.
