Borderlands

I bought this when it was on offer at 17.99 after seeing the TV ads and liking the hand-drawn quality of the graphics. I didn't have particularly high expectations when I sat down on a Saturday afternoon and fired it up. I thought i'd just spend an hour or so noodling around shooting at things...

Then found it was 4am the next morning and the PS3 really needed to get some sleep. It's been years since I've played a game that I literally couldn't put down, one that gets the balance of challenge and reward just right, but I'd definitely found such a game here. It lets you keep moving forwards without sticking you in almost-impossible boss fights (I'm looking at you, Arkham Asylum) and there's usually an alternative way to finish just about any of the many missions - but you'll want to do things the hard way, because you level up faster.

It's taken me over a week of pretty heavy-duty gaming to finish the single player game, and I'm now on the (much harder) second playthrough with the same character. When I've finished that, there are three other player characters to choose from and over 19 million procedurally generated weapons to shoot the bad guys with. After that, there's the split screen multiplayer mode for when your friends come round, and then all the online play. That's months of fun, I reckon. Highly recommended.

This is the game for gamers who are a bit sick of covering all the time, bit sick of the VATS in fallout 3....just want to pick up a pad and make things dead. The cross over of RPG and FPS works well and they dont stand on the others toes. Plenty of guns to choose from though all variations of about 5-6 types of gun though they all have a different feel to them. The online is one of the major selling points, and it should be; this game is HARD. To attempt some parts on your own is foolish and extremely boring as you respawn over and over. However twice now someone has helped me get through a bandit hideout, helped me kill the boss and then nabbed all the loot. Erm, sorry, im hosting, i need that artifact, your a way higher level than me, and now your cashing it in for the XP and cash, right. Kicked. Thats happened twice for me and might be why i cant play the game on my own or with others.
So be warned, this game is good, but play it with other people and if you can play it with people you know so you can split the loot, and if you join someone elses game PLAY NICE.

This is by far one of the worst games I have played on this generation of console. This a poor mans rpg where it feels shallow and pointless. maybe its my fault for wanting a game fallout3 but I gave it chance after chance and couldnt get into it. the only reason I gave it two stars instead of one was for the graphics.

A very enjoyable shooter with good variation and a great coop mode! Playing with friends made this game for me.
Would recommend this game to anyone who fancies a change from COD (still love cod mind you). Graphics look great in 1080 even with the comic style black outlines its fantastic! Right up my street. Perfect for anyone wanting a damn good shoot em up and a bit of fun rolled into one!

After play mass effect i have been looking for a game that stands up to its greatness. And this does, its a fantastically well thought out game, lots of suprises, nothing is ever the same. I personally love the cartoony graphics, really stylised, though i know there not evryones cup of tea. One thing though, dont buy this game if you have anything planned for the next week or so, cause you wont put it down. Deffo a must buy!
