The best tennis game of all time, so far...

                | | See all buaysgyke's reviews (15)

Firstly, SAMGTFC... Yes, this does have online play.

Secondly, BRADLEY9999... Yes, you do hit a ball and move left and right, very clever! Considering it IS a TENNIS GAME, are you expecting to see a Hedgehog and a Monkey running around on the court?!

I think this game is brilliant, definitely something I've been waiting for. Virtua Tennis was not much more than hitting the same button to return the ball and didn't require much skill.

It has alot of famous tennis players in the game, like Federer and Nadal. Also has legendary players like Boris Becker and Mark Philippoussis.

This game is all about timing - the sooner you press the button, the more power it builds up, and you have to release it bang on time as the ball reaches you. If you release the button too early/late, it can cause the ball to hit the net or go out of play.

Using each button gives you a different shot type, ie. "top spin" ;) lob, slice, drop, etc. You can even use the right analogue stick for shots, but only for lob/drop shots, and serves.

You can use the R2 and L2 buttons to perform a powerful/accurate shot.

This game is the Pro Evo of tennis games - realistic and takes time to perfect it!!

This is by far the best tennis game anyone could own.

                 Pretty good, just boring.

First off, the graphics are very good, it looks great. It has a fair amount of real players too, and also some made up players, which is good because it adds variation instead of playing all the best people all the time (like on Virtua Tennis 3).

The career mode is fairly decent, and keeps you occupied. I don't really rate the player ratings, I think they are a bit of a waste of time.

The best part is the realistic gameplay. When you're out of position, you hit bad shots. When you're in a good position, you hit decent shots. If you hit it late, it goes out or hits the net. If you hit it early, you lose power. It is just like playing a real game of tennis.

However, this realistic gameplay means you will be rallying for ages and ages, just for one point. That means it gets so boring, and takes ages just to win a match. Now I know this is realistic too, but itjust makes it boring to play.

Overall though, it wipes the floor with Virtua Tennis 3 in every single way. You can't keep diving and hit shots from miles out, and you don't just play against the best on every career match. It does lack career training, and it can get boring, but it is a fairly decent game.

Having played a few matches in career mode i just could not put it down having been beaten in one or to matches you get very motivated to get better and the topspin school is very good as you hone your skills just on little thing the sound is a bit on the quiet side the music is not very loud.

But having played the other tennis game for the PS3 this is a big step up Look out Andy Murray Here i come 15-0 30-0 40-0

                 Good game

Have to say this is a lot harder to play that some of the others, as timing the hit can be quite difficult. However saying that, it probably what makes this a little more realistic and less arcade than some of the other games around. The graphics are nice as well, as you get more tired, your player sweats and your accuracy etc. decreases. Very good soundtrack as well. Just could be improved in a couple of areas, would like to see the training area give to some points to improve your player and not just through tournaments and matches. For that Virtua Tennis seems a little more complete......

                 BRILLIANT

right. if you like very unrealistic, mega easy gameplay(gets boring after ten minutes), then get virtua tennis 3 or 09. but if you want a realistic, amazing graphics, hours of fun, then this is the game for you. ignore bad reviews, people arnt patient and play on it and think "its too hard" and go to virtua tennis, yes the controls are harder, but once you got it, its pretty simple, and provides hours of fun.

if this helps you can get a demo for top spin 3, and virtua tennis on the ps3 store.
