Huge improvments on the gameplay on 09 it just flows but will never be the same as pro ev for game play
Before I start I will declare my allegiances. I have been pro evo through and through until 2008, where I actually part exchanged pro evo 08 for fifa 08, as I though PES had too many flaws. This year going into it with an open mind.
PRO's
- Very slick visuals and presentation. But its EA sports, and you would expect nothing less.
- Much smoother framerate than Fifa 08.
- Very nice realistic touches, such as the players pointing to where they want the ball to be played.
- Be a pro mode, nuff said.
- Shooting has improved tenfold.
- Difficulty curve seems to have been altered. Last year, on world class, playing Real Madrid felt no different than playing Accrington Stanley. From what I have played of the demo, it felt significantly easier playing against Toronto than it did Real Madrid.
CONS
- Gameplay still feels a bit more scripted than that of PES.
- Controls still are not as responsive as they could be, which is annoying as they have had 12 months to fix this from 08. Very frustrating when you try to time a run with a through-ball and press triangle, yet by the time the player has hit the through-ball, your winger/striker is a country mile offside.
- Still very difficult to beat a man in a normal game, even with the likes of Kaka or Ronaldiniho up agains a left back from some pub team. As a result of this, I have found most of the goals come through the middle and not many at all are scored from crosses.
OVERALL
A definite improvement over Fifa 08. Seems like EA have definately listened regarding the flaws from 08. Although not without its flaws, a solid update, and it will take something pretty special from PES 2009 to beat this (although early reviews for both have been good, they have been favouring PES slightly).
I always buy both games and had high hopes for this years fifa
.I'm glad i didn't write a review straight away as i would have given it 5/5. As i keep playing more faults occur. Be apro is really boring after a while and way to easy (within 1 season my player was rated 91). Manager mode is excellnt but let down by the bugs. Players slow down for no reason when recieving a pass, the player movement is so sluggish unless they are in the 90's. In 2 seasons i've scored 1 long shot. They either fly a mile over or go straight at the keeper. Overall i will have to try pes to say which is better. Fifa was good but not great,
Its to fast and has a feel of PES, looks great etc which it should, but when the players are running, they look like headless chickens, when you tackle someone its so dramatic as the roll over, first touch is better, and through balls are easier, good attention to detail with refs and player animation, not gonna babble on but it just dosent feel like Fifa, always been a fifa fan and never liked PES, it might need a few more goes but so far i'm not to keen!
Sorry
Ok lets get this right, you either love pro evo or fifa, thats a fact.for years i have tried both new games when they come out but always opt for pro evo, simply because it plays better and always has.i always try fifa because ea sports games are normally very good and i have to say i enjoyed this new fifa demo better than any other but the fifa lag is still there.you just dont have the control in game and realism of pro evo.im sure all you fifa fans will love it and so you should because this i the best fifa i have played but for the pro evo fans and true lovers of the beautiful game just wait till the 17th and lets hope the new become a legend mode is as fantastic as it sounds.
