Top 100  Reviewer Top 10 Games Reviewer

I watched this game build up some hype towards it's realise date and bought it the day it game out then I watched it quickly drop in price because of poor sales.... Why I'll never know. It just means that everyone that has waited this long to play the game is picking up an absolute bargain.

As you know the darkness is a first person shooter but aside from all the fire power you can get in the game you also have the power of the darkness at you disposal, meaning you can summon two huge shadowy snakes at your sides which can be used to sliver along walls, ceilings, air vents etc to take your enemy by surprise and rip the hearts out, these creatures also have a variety of powers that you can use such as allowing you to wield demon guns and create black hole where everything and everyone is sucked into it. As well as these snakes you can summon the darkling's each with their own ability, some will open locked areas for you, some fight beside you with big guns, some run towards the enemies taped with dynamite and blow themselves and whoever is in your way to pieces and there are those who put a jackhammer through your enemies chest. These darkling's can come in quite handy as you can imagine, and are fun to watch.

The story in this game is its strongest point you be that involved with it you won't want to put the pad down until you've finished it. The game is full of story that shows you who Jackie is, Where he's come from, the people who is important to him and why, and why he is who he is, even in the loading screens, instead of having to watch some bar fill so you can continue, you have Jackie talking about his past, what he's thinking, or a bit more background to the area you're in.

Aside from the main story there is plenty to keep you entertained elsewhere, such as collecting letters and phone numbers which when dialled in the nearest pay phone treats you to some funny clips/ convocations and also unlocks hidden content, such as gallery images, comics etc. There are also plenty of people walking around mainly in the sub way some of which offer you the chance to do some little tasks for them such as collect items, take care of clips/ convocations and also unlocks hidden content, such as gallery images, comics etc. There are also plenty of people walking around mainly in the sub way some of which offer you the chance to do some little tasks for them such as collect items, take care of thugs, and even collecting pennies before a train runs you over. These are optional and make the game that little more interesting knowing if that you want to you can take a break from the main story.

The graphics in the game are also great in both the details background/ scenery to the people walking around the streets you won't be disappointed. Its great being able to see a hole in a guy's chest where his heart used to be lol.

The only slight problem I had with the game, but I'm not going to let this affect the score I'm given it, was the ending Ill not spoil it for those who haven't played the game yet, but I just wish I had had a bit more control over what happens, Don't get me wrong the ending is great and leaves the game wide open for a second but you will have to play it to understand what I mean.

For the price it is now you're getting a real bargain and a fantastic game with great action and a story that will keep you glued to the screen.

incredible graphics, brilliant gameplay, best game ever

i ordered this game from america and therefore got it earlier than the European release date and it is absolutely incredible. I have finished the entire game and all I can say is i hope they make a sequel. The graphics are the very first thing that strikes you, the detail on the characters themselves is similar to that found in fight night round 3, for those of you who know the game, and the details on the backgrounds, especially in the new york sections is just incredible. The graffiti art is one of the things which also blew me away, I saw a documentary on it and the graffiti is all real and it shows in the game. The gameplay itself is brilliant, the game runs smoothly and is unbelieveably fun to play. The story line, although quite strange is extremely compelling. The only thing I could find wrong with this game is the small maps, however, the game gives you a lot of freedom (I would advise some sort of strategy guide otherwise this game is very difficult to complete) within these maps and a lot of detail in them too, which makes up for it. Overall this is the best game I have ever seen, let alone played, and my friend who owns a 360 agrees, as the 360 and the ps3 versions seemed to be identical. You would have to be stupid not to buy this game and you will regret it forever.

 Damn was i wrong

This an editd review as i originally said that its good but would be better getting resistance fall of man. Like a death in this game, kick me in the stomach and shoot me in the head I WAS SO WRONG. Played it again, great powers, can be a bit easy but better than being too hard. Blood, guts, gore and demons a must have. For people that are thinking of buying this, would be best to try on ps network, but think your are going to love it and then the darkness will consume you too.

This game had alot of hype about it. Based on the comic ect. As a shooter fan i felt compelled to buy it. Upon playing my first impressions were that it was a good game, but as i got further ni realised that the gameplay was a bit edgy, and felt disjointed. For this game i thought the gun work was excellent, but the way to use the darkness was not thought out enough, and was very hard to use and very complicated that it became a chore to use.
Also many things you have to do during the game, ie take out lights so the darkness can thrive, became a chore because there are so many lights. It drove me crazy.
The online was quite obviously rushed so they could have some sort of multiplayer, and so quite obviously was not very enjoyable.
But on the upside i will say this game has very good graphics but its nothing without a decent gameplay.
Just want to take this chance to thank people who have deemed my feedback to be useful.

Disapointing and not worth the money!

This must be a Xbox port? Slow, jerky and glitches. Yes it looks and sounds good but the playability is poor, really slows down when there is lots of action just like on very old systems. This is not worth the asking price and Resistance is much more playable by a long stretch.
Dont know how people give it 4 or 5 stars - joke.

My son just downloaded the xbox demo and it runs much faster and smoother so I guess it was written for the xbox which explains why its not too good on the PS3!
Plays great on the xbox and rubbish on PS3.
