Unreal Tournament III (3)

Words cannot describe how amazed I am at this game. The first thing you will notice are the graphics, the Unreal engine is an amazing thing. The lighting effects are some of the best I have ever seen. It does not do a Halo and just blind you.

But as most gamers will tell you, graphics do not make a game, it is the gameplay. This is typical UT, but the weapons feel more balanced. For a console FPS the controls are great and I have not had the framerate stutter once!

My favourite thing about the game is that you can play dead. Press down on the D - pad and you will collapse on the floor, making it seem asif you are a dead body. I have had many a fun moment get people from behind like this!

However, if you do not like FPS games, i doubt that this game will change your mind. If you are in this situation rent it, however if you do like them what are you waiting for? Ill see you online :)

This game is blooming mental...........i thought COD 4 was fast until i played this.
It really is quite a punishing learning curve when you go online and get your bottom handed to you for the hundredth time,stick with it though and it becomes a seriously addictive and rewarding title.

Graphically it is very much in the same gritty vein as GOW,in fact it is very similar in a lot of ways.
The maps are great and really add to the atmosphere.
Playability online is strong but offline weak,more training levels than anything.

Overall though a great PS3 addition,and boy do we need them!

1st off I have to ask,does any1 else get sick of that damm woman each time somebody captures a flag "Blue team has lost the flag,Red team has captured the flag " ARRRGGHH.

Back to the review though.....

Gfx are very pretty as they should be on a machine with the power of the ps3, although there are still a few gfx pops here an there when the action gets heated in one place.

Gameplay is ok,this is where I have marked the game down.I play COD4 on my 360 and it hooked me from the 1st few seconds,once I hit online play with COD4 then I was in a happy happy place,UT3 for me is in a lower league than COD4 when it comes to online play (and tbh xbox live is a much better online platform than sony's effort,less lag,more games available,better speeds by far)

If you like space orientated fps then this will make a fine addition and you won't be too dissapointed...BUT if you have COD4 then save your money as it's a much better game,even more so if you love online gaming.

Firstly, Lag.... what Lag?! It's true there were a few issues when the game was first released but it's all down to common sense. If you have a rubbish connection and are hosting, don't host 16 player games, reduce it to maybe 8, with a decentish connection 12 max and if you have the mother of all connections then host the full 16 players.
The recent patch is great, things have changed. BOT AI is more gradual now, comms is improved, ping is shown against all players, split screen is great. In game, you know who's talking due to a small speech symbol above their heads. The Tital pack arrives 19th March which will introduce new maps and game mods and remember, the new Mod browser will allow quick access to the latest maps.

There are already some great maps out there. Canal Warfare & Immulsion are my personal favorites but there are literally dozens of great maps, mod skins and game types like Blood Run.

For around £15 - 20. this game is great and if you love twitch shooters you'll be very very happy.
