Formula One Championship Edition (PS3)

Essentially this game is F106 with improvements. The graphics are drastically improved, the AI is more challenging, the physics add more realism but most important of all is the inclusion of online multiplayer.

All the gameplay elements are the same as F106 in essence, but the online mode is where this game shines. Your able to race on any of the tracks, in any condition, with several other options avaliable, and yet it doesn't lose any graphical quality whatsoever, even in heavy rain!

Up to 11 people can race online, with 11 AI as well making up the full grid of 22 cars. If someone leaves mid-race, the AI will take over the car and continue the race. People can even join mid-race if there's a slot free, saving you from waiting in the lobby for the race to finish until you can join in on the fun.

Looking deeper into the game, there is still a lot of potential for Formula One games in the future, whether it'll be a better damage system right down to the minor details like moving marshalls. But for now, it appears we'll have to make do with the essential basics.

If your a Formula One fan, this game is a must just for the online experiance. If you own the Playstation 2 version of F106, this is just an upgraded version for the Playstation 3 with online play, and depending on whether you enjoyed the previous title will affect you choice to buy Championship Edition.

Formula 1 Championship Edition is a very enjoyable racing game and gives you a great sense of speed when your flying round the track. The graphics are very good and there are 6 game modes to choose from, with the best being the career mode, its pretty good as you must start as an unknown driver and work your way through the ranks over a 5 year career. All 18 tracks are included and look good and provide a challenge depending on what difficulty your attempting it on. This game has a few bad points and the most noticeable is the fact that the roster is very out of date, commentary is rather bad as they seem to repeat themselves over the course of the race but these bad points don't bother me in the slightest because am a huge F1 fan so in my book its a pretty good racing experience and its good for beginners and experienced racers. A pretty good game and always a challenge.

I downloaded the demo to waste time on a rainy afternoon, ended up getting very hooked on it and spending £40 on the full game.

Excellent graphics, realistic gameplay, and well worth the reduced price of £25.

Finally a decent Formula One game has been made. Graphically this game is very pleasing; the circuit detail is astonishing and the driving physics are slowly getting better too. Still not quite there, but a big step forward on previous F1 games. Despite the improved physics, and vastly improved graphics there are still weak areas. Firstly the career mode is desperately boring. The menus haven't changed at all from the previous incarnation, out of sync commentary, and poor pit crew animation/graphics. To summarise this is last year's game with vastly improved graphics. Not such a bad thing. But fingers crossed that next year's instalment will have some new features.

If you own a PS3 and love simulation racing games then this is the game you must have. The solo career puts every F1 fan in their dream situation of racing against the best in the world with amazing realism for experienced players and very helpful driver aids for the less experienced. Online play will keep you amused endlessly, constantly on edge and determined to snatch that 1st place from other players.
