Metal Gear - A Legacy Forever

Metal Gear Solid, in my opinion, is without a doubt, the best series released on the PlayStation (Resident Evil a close second). Its sheer perfection. From the first Metal Gear Solid released on the PS, I was hooked. Poetry in motion if you want to call it that. Me and one of my best mates, played the original round his house, just amazed of how good the graphics were, how much attention to detail there was, and how gripping the storyline was. If you have played all of the Metal Gears, then you will know exactly what I mean when I say Metal Gear Solid 4, brings the whole series together so brilliantly. Nostalgic!

MGS2 was abit of a snack game, it was great, but really you just couldn't forget about Meryl, Noami and many more great characters from the first installment. MGS3 was pretty much a prequel. Setting up the past, for the future, and filling in the gaps about the lead up to Solid Snake, his history, and thus; his future.

People picking up MGS4 will be confused, theres no two ways about it. You NEED to have played the first 3 games to REALLY get to grips with the storyline. This is probably the only downside to this game - but if you love MGS as much as I do, you really are in for a treat. Old characters, new characters, extremely dark and twisted enemies; and a few moments of "I'm touching cloth now" is to be expected!

Hands down. This is the BEST game I have EVER played. Its actually made me weep at night, stay up late till silly-o-clock and have dreams about playing MGS in my sleep. The graphics are simply top-notch, the gameplay is astonishingly realistic, the number of hours you can rack up on this are endless and the fun factor hits well above the 100% mark. Hideo Kojima is a sheer legend - and I thank him for giving us Playstation gamers, a game that we can rightly call our own. Every cut scene, every moment, every rifle shot, every enemy you come across; is just unreal. Untouchable.

This review probably sounds really biased and prententious, but I couldn't care less. This game is a MUST OWN game. If you don't have this in your collection, and you haven't played the original MGS games before, you just simply MUST have it. Hideo has made us MGS fans wait a good 10 years now for what I can say, is the REAL sequel to MGS1.

This game isn't just a gimmick for the PS3. Its pure gaming at its best. A cinema epic. A legacy. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - in my opinion; will be best game on the PS3 for a very very long time, if not, forever.

Greatest Game Ever Made?... Most possibly...

Having never played an MGS game before, i admit i was a little sceptical about whether or not i would enjoy the gameplay etc. Having seeing the trailers, the screenshots the gameplay footage that was released before it came out...Again i thought it looked GOOD, but not SPECIAL. And plus i have no idea about the storyline of the series, so again i was a little worried whether i would find the game as engaging etc. Anyway, I went for it due to all the hype and the reputation of the other games, i bought it, and what can i say... This game took my breath away, quite literally.

The game is quite simply, perfection. I have all the great games of this generation (mostly on xbox360 to be honest) such as Halo3, Cod4, Mass Effect, Bioshock, GTA4, Uncharted Drakes Fortune, GRID, PGR4 and so on. Basically think of any great game and iv probebly got it and played it. Back to the point, MGS4 beats all of them. Hands down. If i could rate this game 6, 7 stars i would. It surpassed what i thought the game would deliver, it totally exceeded my expectations.

To the game, the graphics are absolutely gorgeous, in my opinion the finest looking title on ANY platform i have ever seen. Yeah... they looked pretty in screenshots etc, but in realtime, the graphics are quite literally stunning. The gameplay is solid, every control is fast and responsive, character movements are frighteningly realistic and AI is very realistic. Basically, think of every aspect of a game, and this game perfects it. But most of all, on top of the fun factor, the game is THE most ENGAGING game i have played EVER. The story line just sucks you in, it sucked me right in and i dont really no what is going on, its just the way it is delivered.

And to top it all, the online mulitplayer is amazing aswell! Its extremely smooth, and actually quite fast paced... which i did not expect at all. It actually surprised me how much fun it was. The ranking system seems very good. I havnt spent much time with the online section, so cant really comment to much, but as soon as i finish the single player, it seems fun enough to keep me playing MGS for a long time.

Simply put, BUY THE GAME. If you dont have a ps3, here is the reason to get one. Everyone should experience a game of this calibre. It is one the greatest games ever made in my opinion. BUY IT.

I mean, wow just wow. Kojima has done a great job on this game. The sounds are brilliant, cutscenes are very good and omg the graphics are top notch.

This game deserves 10/10. The GamePlay is epic, detailed menus and great controls.

Well done Kojima and Konami you guys did an excellent job.

One happy gamer here :)

1st of all fantastic job on the story the graphics and physics side of the game but it`s just too damn short completed it again in 4 hours 26 minutes 1st time i did it in 18 hours just goes to show how long the cut scenes are unless u skip through them but you don`t want to skip the 1st time you play it. Could have been much better and for the amount of time they made us wait for the game i am dissapointed in the length of it :O(

 Fantastic game!

The reason I bought a PS3. This game is amazing. It is a mix of stealth/action gameplay with cinematic cut scenes to link the story. I managed to bag myself a Limited Edition copy before they sold out.

Graphically it is the best game I've ever seen on a console and with a Hollywood grade soundtrack (which I loved) and compelling storyline this game just sucked me in.

You really get involved in the game and feel for Snake a character that alot of us, including me have grown with throughout the games series as he embarks on his final mission to save the world one last time. I was 15 when MGS was released, now 24 lol. I felt it quite sad seeing him as a suffering old man knowing he doesn't have long left to live, as opposed to the young Snake we saw throughout all the other games. This makes the game more poignant and I couldn't stop playing because I wanted to find out how it all ends.

As for cut scenes every MGS game has had them along with codec conversations. They all add to the atmosphere and the storyline and having the background to what is going on makes the actual gameplay parts more enjoyable I thought. At times I was so engrossed in the cut scenes I forgot I was playing a game, it really was like watching an excellent movie. Then when I was thrust back into gameplay I loved that too and it was immense.

There are many moments during the game the elude back to the previous titles so you may wish to play those first if you have never played one before. Act 4 in particular was my favourite chapter with many nostalgic moments, I loved the way the makers made some of the memories voices echoing conversations from the previous games, this put a smile on my face whilst playing as I remember those lines so vividly from when I was playing as a kid. Also many of the characters from the whole seres make an appearance for one big nostalgic send off to arguably the greatest series in gaming.

I have been a long time fan and the only bad thing I can say about this game is that I'm sad that it is the final chapter in the saga.

Don't miss out on an incredible gaming experience!!
