totaly guted ,i bort my ps3 cos of this game, thinking great another trek into survial horror i couldn,t wait loved res1 ,2 ,3 .ok 4 was a bit naff, but not only do i get a muppet partner in 5 but whares is the edge of your pants survival horror u alone against proper romero type zombies an all manner of evil derange dark humered charitors , new people to the res world may enjoy this but ive played res from the start on the ps1 in the 90s an this is no longer resident evil ,buy dead space instead its cheaper an does what resi used to do .
This review is based on the demo. Graphically the game looks fantastic but thats about all i was impressed with. The characters react, move & aim so sluggishly it almost makes it impossible to combat the enemy when they're all around you...which throughout the demo they pretty much for the whole time. I don't think i'd even give this 3 stars but since it is the demo i can't really comment on how good the full game will be
I have to say i'm very impressed with the demo, the co-op gameplay really does require good team work to be beneficial which is something i always enjoy in a game. The gameplay itself is alot like resident evil 4 but with tyhe little problems ironed out namely, the player can strafe sideways now which can help alot. Also there's no longer a need for constant pausing to change weapons or heal, instead all of that is done in game witha simple touch pad inventory consisting of 9 items slots. This new inventory also enforces tactical decisions on the players as 1 player can not take every type of gun there is and still have room for ammo and health boosts. Also the change of weapons being done in game means that you need to pick the right time to switch weapons otherwise you're going to get hit, these new additions make the thought process behind the combat more tactical and also rely on the partner character covering the others back as they change weapons etc.
There are only 4 guns in the demo, a beretta (pistol), the m37 (shotgun), an mp5 (smg) and a bolt action sniper rifle. All the guns are great to use though the pistol does feel like bit of a popgun however i suspect that is because it's the basic starting weapon and there will be better pistols throughout the game as with resident evil 4.
In conclusion i will be getting this game. It's a good action game and great for anyone who like resident evil 4. The graphics are great and the co-op mode is a good little bonus to add to the pile.
9/10 (Doesn't get 10 out of 10 because i still think the movement could be a little bit quicker)
Downloaded both the PS3 & 360 demo to compare differences, did find the 360 graphics were sharper than PS3's but the PS3 controller felt better. I was a little disappointed though because this just feels like just another action game and not a RE game. The controls are clunky and slow and feel old style, you still cant shoot and move at the same time which is unrealistic since the enemies are capable of running and attacking simultaneously. I'm glad I got the chance to try out the demo but it did not want to make me buy the full game when it is released. If only they had brought the controls up to date and made the setting of the game a little darker and scarier then maybe, but I'm just sick to death of shooting brainless puppets over and over again.Graphically it is nice but that's about it.
Based on the demo released, I was rather disappointed, Graphics are very good, gameplay.......boring, Resi 4 revamped, I was hoping the controls would have been modified from the PS2, but no, stop, shoot, stop, shoot, stop, shoot, you get the idea, after controls like dead space the controls could have been so much better. Shame. Wont buy it until it comes out Platinum or there are 2nd hand copies about!
