Emotionally charged, stunningly beautiful and delivering unprecedented dramatic character performance, Heavenly Sword showcases the power of Playstation 3. A dramatic tale of revenge sees Nariko, a fiery red-haired heroine embark on a quest for vengeance against an invading King and his army. The story builds around the ancient Heavenly Sword which once belonged to a powerful deity. It can never be wielded by a mortal without it draining their life-force, killing them within hours.
When the invading King (played by Andy Serkis) destroys the warrior clan that guards the Heavenly Sword, the clan leader's daughter, Nariko, takes up the sword in a desperate fight for survival. Nariko must now pay the ultimate price as she embarks on one last mission of vengeance against the King and his army before her life is finally drawn to a close...
- The Heavenly Sword: The Heavenly Sword itself can transform into three distinct weapons, each with its own accompanying fighting stance used by Nariko to vary combat styles.
- The Combat Engine: The combat engine can scale up from sophisticated one-on-one encounters to one-on-many, where enemies employ intelligent squad-based dynamics, right up to combat against battalions pushing real-time gameplay and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to unprecedented new levels.
- Physics-Based Combat: The physics-based combat allows players to sweep debris against opponents, kick tables to halt an oncoming surge of fighters, smash the enemy into the scenery, or throw bodies into other enemies using "aftertouch" controls.
- Wide range of Objects & Weaponry: Heavenly Sword provides a wide range of objects & weaponry including rapid fire crossbows and massively damaging bazookas.
- Creative in-game Cinematography: Coupled with real-time story evolvement and amazing set-pieces, Heavenly Sword feels like a blockbuster action movie that takes combat gameplay to new heights.
- PlayStation 3: Greater processing power on the PS3 enables more immersive visuals and sound effects in Heavenly Sword, heightening the character performance and combat within the stunningly beautiful environments.

At last. Reasonably priced games for PS3. Thankyou play.com. After going to high street stores and seeing them try to charge me £40 + for a game I have not bought one single game since I got my Ps3.I have watched loads of movies on it and played the two I got with it to death but now I will be buying this game. Great demo and nice gameplay/graphics and all at a very good price. The £32.99 has decided me on def buying it. Note to games publishers - if you set your prices realistic like this we can then afford to BUY your games. But again - a thanks to play.com for AGAIN leading the way in making gaming affordable to us all and not just the rich.
Played the demo only and even tho its short it leaves your appetite very wet. An exciting prospect, Intense fights with no battle the same, amazing moves and even better counter attacks that dont get boring, cinema style camera angles which dont leave you frustrated but more engrossed in the battle, clever enemies and destructable battles zones, a mixture of the matrix and the powerstone game on the dreamcast galaxies ago. Its definately in a world of its own, inevitably you will get bored of the game, but at the moment I dont see how. This is a must buy game, the creators have poured masses of time into this game and the outcome is pure brilliance. Its not just a pretty girl weilding swords, its a uniquely crafted Action adventure game with enough pizazz to make you phone in sick for the day.
Right I have to firstly say I am not a huge fan of these types of games.
However, I was totally bowled over by they way this game plays. So fluid its like your in an action movie.
Graphics are beautiful, great scenery and the sound is cinematic which adds to the great action.
This is on my list to buy for sure, PS3 has been slow building up its game collection but this is the start of the end of no games to play.
The problem with this game is it becomes increasingly tedious very quickly. If I could sum Heavenly Sword up in one word that word it would be 'shallow'. Yes it may look nice but it's all looks and very little substance. This is compounded by the fact that there was a lot of hype surrounding the release of this game and many people were waiting a long time for it to be released. My advice is do not buy Heavenly Sword. I'm just glad I only rented it (and I still feel like it was a waste of money). My review may be somewhat harsh but I'm just being realistic. 30 odd pounds is a lot of maney to spend on six hours worth of gaming that gets boring after the 1st 20 or so minutes. If you're in to this type of game then hold on to your money and wait for God Of War to be released on the PS3 instead, thats what I'll be doing.
