ModNation Racers

I played this game for a good few hours (well you have to considerating the load time of anything) and just couldn't get used to the button control layout, so I thought I'd change it, but you can't. Why can't I decide with button layout I'm more comfortable with. Why do game designers do this to us gamers? it's their way or the highway. So for these reasons I traded mine in.

Picked up my copy yesterday, and have to say its a gem of a little game. There has been a distinct lack of quality racers before now on the PS3, but this one ticks all of the right boxes. It's fun and most importantly addictive, tracks can take a little while to load and the driving mechanics aren't really that much different to a certain other kart game but in soo many other ways it innovates. The single player mode is pretty straight forward, but a nice touch is learning about your rivals personalities, just adds a little something.

Where this game comes alive tho is the modding. Creating a track is soo simple (you just drive a tarmac laying truck around to the shape you wish to create) but is arguably the funnest part of the game where hours can be lost perfecting a track with various accessories. I made one that took 50mins, and is great fun to drive around but after trying others creations out it can only inspire your own designs.

If the ModNation community is anything like as friendly and creative as the of LBP then you'll be coming back to this game for months after you have completed the single player. Am sure there will also be numerous DLC to spend your pennies on in the future with a new future weapon pack (weapons are just your standard Mario type at the min) already hinted at.

I got a space in the open beta they are running and the game is sooo good, its like mario kart with the customisation of little big planet.
The racing is really fun and the track creator is brilliant, you can make a realy goodd track in under 5 minutes.

I've been living on the beta test, its AWSOME! If Mario Kart & Little Big Planet got married and had a baby this would be that baby! A must buy for racing & creating fans!!!!!!!!!

Well the 2 things that made me buy this title were the fact i love Mario Kart and i also love game creation, this is the best of both.

From the off the graphics are cute but also very detailed with great FX on the karts and lovely courses too, the range of scenery is cool.
Sound wise its pretty standard fare with some forgetable music and the usual crash-bang-wallop fx.
Playability is where it shines, its simple racing with 4 weapons which you can power up similar to 'Split Second'............although they are used completely differently.
The actual racing controls feel instantly accessable and are second nature to seasoned 'karters'.

The actual creation side is a doddle............so far ive done my first driver/kart and track all easy to do without so much as a glance at the instructions!!!!!!
The power of the creator really is immense and i think some of the public will create things better than currently ingame just now.

Overall its a really, really good fun racing title well worth being bought.
