the first next-gen console i ever layed my hands on was the xbox 360. To tell the truth, i was fairly impressed with it, the graphics were good, but i didnt appreciate the idea of having to pay to play online, and it broke a couple of months later. I also didnt understand the fact that it could play high definition games, but it doesnt play high definition dvd's? oh yh, and its mega ugly lol. However, when i got my playstation 3 my entire view of the gaming world changed. It is by far the best console out there, and it will be the best console for many years to come. it has so much potential for the future, you can watch blueray dvd's on it, the graphics on games such as COD4, DMC4 and MGS4 are amazing, and theyre developing means by which you can watch digital television on it! Get this console, and the online play is free! The best console ever, a definite buy, if u dont have this console, you an idiot :D

make sure you get what you think you are buying. I bought PS3 (with 3 games and 1 blue ray) offer for my sons birthday. What i actually got was one unboxed ps3 no instructions and no games or blueray. However guy who bought item off was helpful,

The PlayStation 3'S Good Points against the XBOX 360.
1. The PS3 has Free Online Gaming out of the box.
2. The PS3 has Memory Card readers [This version does]
3. The PS3 plays PS2 games.
4. The PS3 has Built-In WiFi, which connects to your home wireless router simply.
5. The PS3 has a simpler Interface.
6. The PS3 has a Blu-ray Drive. This is the future, and allows you to watch movies in High Definition, true HD. Blu-ray discs are the future.
7. The controllers are all Bluetooth, they're rechargeable via the cable that comes with the PS3.
8. The PS3 has built in bluetooth, allowing you to have a blu-ray bluetooth remote, bluetooth headsets to speak to online players.
9. The PS3 has 4 USB Ports, My 60GB PS3 has a PlayStation Eye PS3 camera connected, with a USB keyboard and Mouse.
10. The PS3 is a much more powerful console, it IS the future.
Bad points about the PS3:

On the other hand, the XBOX 360's bad points: how long this wil take!
1. No Bluray Drive
2. Less USB ports, if not, none!
3. No HDMI, only in the 360 Elite console
4. Online costs
5. Controller isnt bluetooth, battery immediately finishes
6. Weak console, gets the 'RROD' Red ring of death! This totally kills the console, and you have to wait weeks for it to be repaired if they let you.
7. the console is ugly
8. It scratches discs easily
9. DVD is now old to be on a 'HD Console'
10. It has no built in WIFI
11. No web Browser
12. No memory card readers

Wow, wow, wow , wow, wow. And more wow. The minute I pressed the button to turn this on I almost fainted. I waited 9 months for it and I wasn't dissapointed! I polish it sometimes, and only let people touch it when I haven't cleaned it for a while! Every single disc I have for it no-one has touched apart from me!!! And I don't intend on letting anyone anytime soon eathier. BUY BUY BUY!!!

Really wanting a powerful games machine?

Then you have choice xbox360 Elite or Sony 40gb PS3

Both have positives and negatives. I am by no means an expert but owning both consoles I will give you my experience.

Xbox360 Elite -

Positives:
Xbox 360 to me is only a 'gamer console', and it uses the fact that it is only this as it's main strength!. It has a better set up then the Ps3 for gaming, achievement points - I never thought I would ever play games just to get these, but I do, I love the challenge between my friends on who can get them and how fast!!, xbox live is more stable then ps network although I found the speed on getting games on both are almost the same. There are more players on Live though.

Okay with that in-mind, yes there are more players, but there is much more titles, there is a budget section for 360 and not on PS3 where all titles are still nearly full price.

Negatives:
It is noisy, very noisy! The controller runs out of charge quickly, and if you don't have the re-chargeable pack, getting batteries out of the controller is one pain in the ..., no internet browser, no blu-ray (HD movies), although u can download them from live (at a cost), but I want the shiny cases.

Ps3 60gb Model -

Positives:
Ps3 to me is not just a 'gamers console' but it is a 'entertainment console' it offers far more choice then the 360, although it does not have achievements, it does allow you to customise some games, the console, load different operating systems (i.e. XP), blu-ray as standard - your discs don't scratch as quickly as standard dvd (360), plus you can watch movies on your HD tv in HD. Built in Optical out for connecting to surround sound system (360 has it on component cable). PS Network is 100% free! Although this means is it not supported. It was also quite rubbish, although it is now to a standard that would rival gamespot arcade. You can browse the internet (smoother with a USB Keyboard), Bluetooth for that mobile phone headset.... the PS3 just offers the standard user much more choice.

Negatives:
No achievement points - never thought this would bother me but it does, I find playing single player with 'nothing to show for it' pointless (I'm a multiplayer at heart MMORPG where your status is what you achieve), so I ignored some of my titles for a while Drake Fortune etc. Lack of titles, I struggled to find titles that would/could match 360 (I buy a lot of games). Although the exclusives like Rachet & Clank and Drake are excellent, there is nothing pulling to buy until Grand Tourismo 4, finally no budget range, due to the lack of titles, there is no £9.99 games for the Ps3 cheapest is £25 - although you do get offers.

The new rumble controller for the PS3 is due for launch in September with the new 80gb model to EU market. I own a rumble controller (brought it back from the USA), it does make a considerable difference your games, plus the controller is at last a weight it should be.

I used to own an xbox 360 and have spent hours playing a nintendo wii and was not entirely satisfied , so i bought a playstation 3 and found that it has a much better set up . The whole thing is made better , build quality ,looks ,free online and so on. The only problem is that game developers dont understand how to properly make games for it yet. Games come out and dont look finished , graphics dont live up to the hype, eg GTA4 , CONDEMNED 2 , with the exception of COD4 , which looks amazing by the way.
I can honestly say that the ps3 is the best of a bad bunch of new consoles and this is why.

Nintendo wii = Last gen graphics , babyish games , awkward controls and limited online capabilities.

Xbox 360 = unreliable , be prepared to wait for your xbox to be repaired after a few weeks , it will break! ,online is not free and does not have the advantage of a blue ray player , which trust me will be a big thing in the near future.

PS3 = Free online service,great build quality , reliable, great future exclusive games , blue ray player , but has lazily developed games on the market which just dont really impress as they should do .
So after all that I think only the ps3 can improve in the future [when developers pull there fingers out of there asses] and the 360 and wii can only get worse , go for the ps3 its the best console out there , but only just!

Ps3 is a must have console plus you need to be quick because this is the 60gb hard drive console which sony are not making anymore so be quick.

If you dont get a 60gb one then theres always the 40 gb model but dosent have as much features.

what an amazing console. i had my 360 for a year before i got one of these. i think overall the ps3 is a better machine but there still aren't THAT many games out for it that i want. GTA IV and MGS4 should solve that problem though (Y)
