The PlayStation move takes motion-sensing gaming to the next level. True 1:1, sub-millimeter tracking puts gamers into the virtual world of the PS3 and allows them to interact with the environment as if the objects were in their own living room. The controller uses the PlayStation Eye camera in conjunction with the light emitting "orb" atop the controller to calculate your position in three-dimensional space. As the orb can change colour, multiple controllers can be tracked simultaneously.

The orb can also be used to enhance in-game actions, for instance changing to red when using a "fire spell". The controller will feature traditional buttons, including a trigger, for those actions which motion-sensing will not capture, such as firing a gun. The possibilities for the motion controller range from simplifying the user-interface of a real-time strategy (selection and commands) to true sword fighting in your favourite role-playing game.

Introducing the PlayStation Move
The PlayStation 3 Motion Controller contains built-in motion sensors, including a colour-changing orb at its head, which interacts with the PlayStation Eye camera to track movement. This tracking is precise, meaning the PlayStation 3 Motion Contoller recreates every single swing of the arm and twist of the wrist exactly on screen.

Time to Move
The PlayStation Move gives PlayStation 3 gamers a new way to play and interact with their PlayStation 3. The Move is actually broken into three separate parts; the Motion Controller, Navigation Controller and the PlayStation Eye camera.

The PlayStation Move: Motion Controller
The Playstation Move: Motion Controller contains advanced motion sensors such as a three-axis accelerometer, a three-axis gyroscope and a terrestrial magnetic field sensor to measure your movements and motions which are translated into on screen movements and commands. The colour changing sphere on the end of the controller is tracked by the PlayStation Eye and by using the power of the PlayStation 3 it detects the movements, angle and the absolute position in 3D space, to add to the accuracy.

Move to the beat
At this point there are 36 third party developers and publishers gearing up to support the PlayStation Move, releasing more than 20 games that are either dedicated to or support the PlayStation Move platform.

High definition gaming with the PlayStation Move and PlayStation Camera
PlayStation Move offers a motion-based, High Definition gaming experience unlike anything on the market. The PlayStation Move platform, including the motion controller, sub-controller and PlayStation Eye camera, work together - and along with a strong line-up of software titles, will deliver an innovative and highly immersive experience on the PS3 system.

The combination of the PS3 system and PlayStation Eye camera detects the precise movement, angle and absolute position in 3D space of the PlayStation Move: Motion Controller, allowing users to intuitively play a game as if they themselves are within the game.

The PlayStation Move: Motion Controller delivers unmatched accuracy through its advanced motion sensors, including a three axis gyroscope, a three axis accelerometer and a terrestrial magnetic field sensor, as well as a colour-changing sphere that is tracked by the PlayStation Eye camera.

With PlayStation Move, both fast and subtle motion can be detected, whether the user is swinging a tennis racket or painting with a brush. With the PlayStation Move: Motion Controller, users can provide direct input through action buttons and an analog trigger, while receiving physical feedback from vibration functionality and visual feedback from the sphere's ability to display a variety of different colours.

 Play in the Dark

I'm not sure if the first reviewer on the list has used the Move because he reports issues with playing it sitting down and in the dark.

I have played Shoot and Heavy Rain sitting down in the dark, on a projector screen with no problems. In fact, because of the light on the Move, it works even better in the dark, bright light is what Move doesn't like so much.

The Move has so many advantages over the other types of controller and can be used in true games like shoot-em-ups as well as the Party type games that the others are aimed at.

Get it (if you can find one in stock!)

The future is here - Simply Awesome!

IGNORE the reviews complaining about accuracy.

These people probably own or play the Wii. Let me make this clear. These people think flailing your arms around assuming you are at one with your console is an idea of gameplay. They have been sold short and THEY WILL be disappointed with the Move.

If you have no co ordination YOU WILL HATE this system (initially).

However like everything, with time, patience and practice you will become better and become amazed. This system separates the wheat from the chaff in terms of console peripherals and is a genuine attempt to integrate the virtual world into reality.

1:1 tracking is here. Table Tennis on SC is an awesome display of this, lag is practically non-existent.

Play in low light, even dark? No problem as the glowing orbs allow the Eye Cam to track you with pinpoint accuracy (with different colours so you know whos belong to who, nice touch)

There seems to be a general attempt to denigrate this system as some sort of Wii clone but slightly better.

Utter rubbish, I own both a 360 & PS3 and am no fanboy.

This is to Motion Control Systems what Blue Ray is to DVD i.e., Blue Ray, like DVD's play movies but is infinitely better in terms of quality and content.

If the Move is this good from launch I can only imagine what treats are in store once developers get used to the system, look at the initial games on the PS3 a few years ago compared to recent games and those coming onto the PS3 now and in the future.

A must have if you own a PS3 or any SERIOUS GAMER for that matter.

Enjoy

 No reason not to

There are 24 reviews that were written before mine and all say that words 'Precise' and 'Accurate'. These two words have been used time and time again, because they describe the product perfectly. As we can all admit, these are the wii motion controllers just so much better. The Kinect will be coming onto the market soon and I would predict it will sell much more, as it will have that new wow factor. I do however not believe it will be the better product. The Move has so much potential. There is a limit to what you can do with out a controller and a limit to what you would actually want to do without a controller. At the end of the day the next gen in motion controller needed to be much more responsive and precise. This is exactly what Sony have managed to do. Call it a wii remote with a ball on top if you like, but give it a try and you'll see what the fuss is about. I know my mate will purchase a Kinect, I'll have a go and I'll find it fun at first, but I know I will come back to Move for longevity. This will work for casual gaming and for more serious gaming. It's a win win.

 Awesome

10 minutes into Racket Sports I was dripping sweat. Very precise and an amazing experince. Being a hemiplegic (can't move my left arm or hand) this was awesome for me. Being able to playTennis again after 4 years was just fantastic. A clear evolution from Wii's concept.

 Surprisingly Good

Let me start by saying i was not really looking forward to the Move being released. Im a huge PS3 fan, ive a few friends who own the Wii and ive always hated playing it. Then i got 2 Move controllers for Xmas and since then i havnt been able to put them down. They are really accurate even when playing at night with the lights in the room off.
