4 Fun Fun Fungreyfoxmce | 27/01/2008 | See all greyfoxmce's reviews (20)Based on the game play of the PSP version and the demo that I downloaded from the JAP playstation store about a year ago!!! (come on Sony get your release catalogue in order) this game will be good looking and fun to play. It is more of an arcade swinger than a full blown Golf sim like the Tiger franchise. You earn rewards as you progress. Graphically it is cute and clean with good ambient sound. This is an Horses for courses title, if you play golf in the real world, opt for Tiger 08 but if you only want to play in cyberspace you will find this right up your street (or Fairway) and you won't need to don a pair of silly trousers ;)
5 Same great game, now with beautiful graphicsgameaholic | 03/04/2008 | See all gameaholic's reviews (47)Top 100 Reviewer Top 100 Games Reviewer Everybody's golf for me has always been the best and most enjoyable golf series i've played. I've had it on PS1, PS2, PSP, and now PS3. This is what the PS3 has to offer.15 characters - 5 on each level (beginner/intermediate/expert).6 courses - Starting easy and getting harder. These can be played in long tee mirror mode which makes it feel like 12 courses.8 different clubs (each with 3 classes to unlock), and 10 different balls.Online mode where you compete with up to 50 other players in a tournament.I'll start with the courses. Each is well designed and looks beautiful. They start with the basic Highland country club course which is suitable for all level of games player to play, and get progressively harder as bunker placement as well as wind and smaller green sizes will test even the best gamers, especially if your character is not levelled up much and you don't have all the clubs unlocked. There are 9 levels in challenge mode each with up to 10 challenges, and the special rules added to some challenges make the game that much more of a challenge as you have to play more tactical on times. In the game each character levels up with the amount of times you use them. This will unlock more power shots and different club levels if you've unlocked new clubs (e.g. B class upgrades to A class), as well as new costumes (up to 6 for each character). The characters are part of the fun of this game once again as they all look well designed.Multiplayer is where this game really shines. What I love about everybody's golf is you can customise multiplayer to suit the skills. If you're playing someone who can't get the accuracy timing right (my parents for example), select the everybody's club and you only have to get the power level right. Now for the online multiplayer section. This is fab. You create an avatar and then select a clubhouse to enter. Each clubhouse has 10 rooms with 20 floors. In each floor up to 50 people can be present. Once in the room you can talk to other gamers and interact with some of the environment, it's like a mini version of home and is superbly done. Each of the floors has 4 tee off time games every hour which you have to pre-book like in real golf (this can make sure you get into a game you know will be filled up), and up to 50 players can enter each of the games. When in the online game you play each hole with a time limit (you are given plenty of time to finish the hole), then when you finish each hole you see the leaderboard where scores are updated as each player finishes. Here you can also see what shot each player who hasn't finished is on and how much distance they have left to go. Also you can see what level their character is at and what clubs and ball they are using, as well as leave a short message for others to read. The final addition is the new advanced shots mode where the power bar is replaced by a slow moving backwards club to determine the power and a timing on the accuracy on the shots (apart from putting). I've found this better for teeing off each hole but its harder to learn the power level to set on second shots. Putting power is not as hard as a second shot for determing power but still is not as easy as the traditional shot method for setting the putting power. This adds a new skill level to the game and makes multiplayer more customisable. So this game is not only great but allows you to customise sht methods, clubs and balls to either suit your style of play, or the characters you pick to play with. Buy it, you'll not be disappointed.
5 what a "smashing" game!Millenwagon | 14/04/2008 | See all Millenwagon's reviews (34)Top 10 Tickets Reviewer This game is just brilliant. I have never played the previous versions of this game, but i can clearly see why they have been so successful over the years, and i'm guessing this is the best one so far. With plenty of unlockables and cool animations this game will keep you enticed for hours after hours.Quick loading times, easy to follow menus and instructions... what mroe do you need? It can also be quite challenging, this aint no walk in the park, it can be a tad tricky at times. The game is one of the greatest sport titles for the ps3 by a long shot, blowing tiger woods away simply because this game has atmosphere and a fun side to it.There is only one problem, and a real small problem it is... you have to install the game which requires 4GB of memory and takes about 20 minutes... but its definately worth it because after this the loading times are really quick.great game!go buy it!
4 Great funmpadfield | 06/03/2008 | See all mpadfield's reviews (1)Having just got a ps3 I have downloaded this demo and found it very entertaining. It more cartoony but i liked the advanced controls option where you watch the swing rather than a power bar. I look forward to release version. As to tiger woods 08 being more real in tiger woods you can add spin after you've hit the ball. If I could do that at my real golf club my handicap would be much better.
5 Puts the Fun Back Into GolfSithlord1977 | 17/07/2008 | See all Sithlord1977's reviews (14)From the offset you know this is not a "serious" golf game and if that is what you are looking fo then stick to Tiger Woods. Infact the best compliment i could give the game is its not tiger Woods. Its much better. The basis of this game is fun. The characters are fun as they all look like characters from an Anime film, the courses are fun with the emphasis on being fantastical rather than realistic, everything is just... FUN!!!!! its quite easy to spend hours and hours on the challenge mode as the more you play the more you unlock (courses, golf clubs, Caddies, etc). The online tournaments are also superb and plentyful! The game just has everythingIf you are looking for a golf sim, go elsewhere but if you are looking for a fun golf game look no further!
