A spectacular, creative, and unflinching realisation of a Clive Barker nightmare for next-gen console platforms and PC, Clive Barker's Jericho is a new supernatural horror concept with story by the master mythmaker, novelist and filmmaker Clive Barker.

Jericho deals with the mysterious reappearance of a lost city in a remote desert. When a form of evil that goes right back to the dawn of days resurfaces from there, a Special Forces squad, trained in both conventional warfare and the arcane arts, is sent in. Their mission: Hunt down and destroy the evil that lurks at the heart of the city before it destroys humanity.

Clive Barker's Jericho is designed as an action horror title that will up the stakes in visuals and phantasmagorical special effects. How I looked forward to this game I read tones of previews and couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

At first the games is really fun checking out each characters weapons and unique powers and using them to kill the many interesting enemies in the game. It's a great idea being able to switch between characters at any time as well meaning if you get bored with a certain character you can easily switch.

The story in the game is great and you can get caught up on it to not pay attention to the real problem the game has.

Once you have had you fun experimenting with characters and what not you start to realise that the action is a bit..... Hmm slow. There seems to be only 2 to 3 enemies on screen at a time once you kill one another pops up making you unsure if it's safe to move on or not.

Another problem is your team there useless, you can move them in to attack or wait but if they are to close together your screwed and you find yourself running backwards and forwards healing them more than you actually do any fighting there should have been more commands in the game to help organise your team better.

The graphics aren't that great either. Although interesting at first to look at the twisted and disturbing scenery you'll notice it's more or less the same backgrounds time and time again.

The thing that really got to me though is the ending. Once you work out how easy the final boss is to defeat the just ends really no explanation just the credits.

The game is fun at first and it's worth playing the game for the story and it certainly isn't the worst games I have ever played but don't be going out your way to get it there are much better horror games out there.

Top 100 PC Reviewer

bought this game for the PS3. It looks great but plays crap. DO NOT BUY.

Save your money for one of the other mega games out this month of November.

PC COD 4, Crysis, Gears of War, Time Splitters, Unreal Torni.

360 Cod 4, Mass effect, Assassins Creed, Time Splitters, Area 51

PS3 Cod 4, Assasins, Haze, Unreal Torni.

If you have to buy the game and you hace a choice of platforms, buy on PC as it's only £17.99.

Doesn't scare, isn't enjoyable, merely repetitive and mundane.

The idea of crowbaring in a squad with (ridiculous) super powers seems hamfisted and utterly at odds with an attempted atmosphere of suspense and fear. If you can control a bloke with a minigun and a living flame on his arm, some wizened crusader with a rusty sword's not going to make you drop your guts.

Enjoyable moments are few and far between and the levels are ugly and bland. The mercifully few button imput commands (a la God of War) are a total pain and add nothing to the game. The long and the short of it is, that a horror game should scare and this just doesn't. The story is sub-standard and the premise is poor. This game fails on almost every level.

The story is utterly terrible half the time you dont really know whats going on. Anoying team control and linear environments. Sometimes can be entertaining at points but generally a poor game. Avoid!
