4 Universal guitar controllerjabuzan | 29/10/2009 | See all jabuzan's reviews (1)I bought this as a second guitar for my Wii and am very happy with my decision. I will summarise the key benefits and limits against the official guitar hero controller for those of you not sure which to go for in a second/replacement controller:PROS:- This has a much better general build quality than GH controller, better quality plastic, nice rounded edges don't dig into you, and feels more like a real guitar (albeit a bit lighter)- Also looks a LOT better (don't pretend that doesn't matter!)- Works without a Wii controller (saves faffing about installing it every time you want to play)- Uses 2 AA batteries, which you should have plenty of ;-)- Compatible with ALL Rock Band and GH games (none of the official controllers do this)- Also compatible with PS3- Fret buttons and strum bar are at least as good quality switches as the GH controller (playing at expert level).CONS:- Seems to activate power mode automatically, without tilting the guitar- No keyed bit on the yellow button to help finger placement (get used to this very quickly, not really a problem)- Whammy bar is less sensitive (seems to be non-analogue, again does the job and is not a problem)- Strum bar is a little shorter than GH model - again not really caused me any problem- No solo/fret bar for tap-strumming (as found on GH4+ controller), but you can tap-strum on the normal fret buttons so again, not really a problemI have only awarded 4 stars for the fact that it triggers power mode automatically, which I would rather it didn't do. This is probably a little harsh considering the other benefits, but I would only award 5-stars to a perfect product. Overall, this is an excellent value for money and quality alternative to the official GH controller.. I have both and choose to use this one.
