 Excellent Game

Thoroughly enjoyable game, lots of different things to do, for example side-missions (activities) to break up the primary missions. It's not as refined graphically as GTA4, but it's more fun, and more reminiscent of Vice City and San Andreas.

 GTA4 beater

Played GTA4 and this is much better, okay the graphics and programming lack a little but the story and characters are much more in depth and much more fun to play. This is just a better game to play. Not as pretty as GTA4 but this makes up for it in enjoyment.

If you prefered San Andreas to GTA4 get this!

To start with I was very impressed with GTA4 mainly because of the graphics and it was the first game I bought for the PS3 but after getting a bit through GTA4 I realised the gameplay was awful, the storyline was the worst so far and once completed there was not really a lot that you had gained at the end of it.
However SR2 is brilliant it harks back to the old style GTA games, in particular it shares many things with San Andreas such as getting tattoos, gang orientated, the radio stations are amazing (for rock etc anyway), changing appearance (hair, clothes etc), also there are plenty of side missions (drug smuggling, fight clubs etc) and you can go further with customisation than any GTA in that you can customise your own houses!
The storyline is also far better than GTA4 and has a combined feel of Vice City and San Andreas and yet still seems unique.
If you preferred the older style GTA games then getting this (especially for ten pounds) is an absolute bargain. You honestly won't be disappointed.

 Loved It!

Saints Row 2 is a very good game. I purchased it the other day on a whim as I thought I might as well for such a cheap price. One of the other best features is you get to desgn what your character looks like which I found really good. The storyline is great and action packed. The missions are filled with variety and are very fun to play through. There is a large selection of weapons including a pimp cane with a built in shotgun which I found funny. The graphics are not the best but then again it did come out some years ago. The driving is too easy and a bit unrealistic. However in some ways this is better than GTA 4. There is an online feature but all you can do is join someone else's game and help them or kill them if you wish like I do hehe.

Overall 4/5. It misses out on 5 due to the graphics and online features but if they were improved it would be a 5. Highly recommend you buy this as its cheap for a good game and you won't have to wait long for the sequel to come out in 2010 which continues from the end of this one.

LOVE more options than gta 4 !!

first up this obviously is no where near able to compete with the brilliant graphics of gta , but in terms of things to do this is by far a lot more enjoyable , i am half way through his game and am addicted , you can be male or female, customize your cars, customise your gang and with plenty of side missions such as racing , escort , even spraying rubbish over houses you have a alot to do you can even be a bodyguard lol, as same as gta you do various missions in open world gameplay and its hugely enjoyable i would buy this game i brought this a cpl weeks ago from play and only bein a tenner it a absolute bargain BUY!
also jus to add eliza dushku does voice over and paramore are on the radio woohoo lol

A lot of people compare this game to GTA IV. Yes both games are sandbox types in a large city, but where GTA IV has a more realistic feel, SR2 has more options in a number of areas and IMO is a lot more enjoyable.

The story takes you through the process of bringing the 3rd street saints out of obscurity and back to being the top gang in Stillwater. Fighting off the attentions of 3 other gangs, the local plod and the Ultor corporation.

Graphics are decent but not stellar, character animation is good and the amount of options open to you in pretty much every category is excellent. The game has a very good sense of humour and the learning curve is acceptable. What's more, you can customise pretty much everything from your characters hair-do to the stripper pole that you install in your cribs.

The missions are varied and there are a large number of side diversions that once completed reward you with a number of unlockable bonuses, for example complete one of the diversions at the airport and you get a Pimp Cane that doubles as a shotgun with a 16 round magazine. You can also buy the stores in the areas that you control for a discount on their merchandise, each store you buy also pays you a set amount of money each day. Which comes in handy for furthering your reign of terror.

There are a few bugs in the game that I've found, for example pimp out a number of cars one after another and return them to your garage and you'll be able to see the knee-cappers from previous rides still on screen and the still pictures when you load the game still show the original character, no matter how much you customised him earlier. However, these are minor and don't detract much from the game.

Altogether SR2 is well worth your money, this title should be in the collection of every gamer.
