Can't argue where COD flops this IMO is amazing. You can't help getting sucked into the story. Great game and would recomend to anyone . =)

Finding this game late, has been out for a while and Killzone 3 is out in only a week or so. But I should have tried it earlier. Finally got around to playing the demo, and then decided to get the whole game.
Ok arguably not the best FPS ever, controls are frustrating at times, play occasionally interrupted by loading pauses, and hiding/taking cover controls are a bit sticky, but its still really good. I'm more an open world type, so having to follow a set path and objectives like you will do in the main story line of this game I don't go for. But Killzone 2 is good enough to keep me interested and going back for more. Lots of trophies to collect, and what I understand is the games main pulling point, the online multi-player, I'm yet to try out. It is an intense shooter, you will be exhausted after each level.

Like the last guy said this is not COD it does require team work and skill to play I personaly love this game the online is just amazing people actually work together and use team tactics unlike COD games were every one just runs around like idiots the controls are a bit weird at first like the left stick being ur zoom button but I just changed it to L1 and it was fine u do move and turn slower but thts just realism and u will easily get used to it I havent really done the campaign yet so I cant comment on tht if u r sick of all the COD games and want somthing new get this game its just awesome thx 4 reading =)

Stands out from the crowd of bland shooters!

Well it seems...unsurprisingly...that other reviewers here are expecting this game to be exactly the same as Modern Warfare; gun-porn, running round hunting kills, twitchy action gameplay, everything that turns off most tactical players!

The single player game is very well realised, the locations are superb and the graphics put most other shooters to shame. The plot is a bit laboured, trying to cover over the fact that it's a standard "good guys versus fascists" tale. It makes good use of a cover system without you ever feeling like the cover was just put there to make your life easier. It all looks like part of the landscape.

On to the multiplayer. This game is NOT Modern Warfare! You need to think about your class, think about what you want to achieve and the tools you will need, and think about how you can compliment your squadmates. Victory doesn't just depend on racking up as many kills as you can. You need to learn to heal your team, block choke points with turrets and C4, and how to set up respawn points to ensure you complete your objectives! The community is much smaller than MW or MW2 but as long as you can find a game day or night...which you can... then who cares? The community is more focussed on playing the game well, everyone I've met playing other shooters is only interested in XP and levelling up their characters; this game is NOT for them!

At a fantastic price of GBP14.99 this game is a must for all PS3 owners. I've been playing online shooters for over a decade on PC, and this is the only PS3 shooter I can bear to play. If you want to drop in and out of a game without ever really getting "into it", buy MW2. If you want to succeed at a game that tests your brains instead of twitch skills then try Killzone 2.

 Hmm....

I honestly have no idea what people see in this game.
The story isn't that interesting, the guns are boring, and when you run and move around it feels like you're stuck in toffee.
Rubbish.

The demo doesnt do it justice... very good game.

I was one of those put off this game by the demo on the PSN. But after a few years I figure whatever, and with with Killzone 3 out soon I figure I had to play this one first.

The demo on the PSN does not do the game justice!

This is a very good game, with only a few tiny issues. I read a lot about people complaining the controls are too hard to use, but they arent.

Its true you're targeting doesnt move as fast as other FPS games, but this is a very realistic game in both movement, targetting and enemy behaviour. But the controls ARE easy to use and dont inhibit the game at all.

Its a tough game, even on normal and easy. I played 99% of this on normal, found it a challenge. Reached the end bit, with the end boss and had to set it to easy as the difficulty just SHOT UP no end.

But its also a satisfying game, with very good graphics (think gears of war). Granted they arent perfect visuals, you have the odd texture issue, but otherwise spot on beautiful.

The story is top notch, spot on, great character animations and voice acting, great music and atmosphere. I havent played KZ1 and I dont think Ive missed anything.

The issues though... the load times between levels feel overly long, and when moving between zones within a level the game can stop completely for a few seconds to load it.

These are TINY, TINY issues but they are noticeable, but not that bad they destract from anything.

Overall, a very good game, which get VERY tough in the end boss section and requires a lot of calm and breathing when that bit comes around! Otherwwise... play it.

 Simply awesome.
