  Great re-playable solo game

| | See all R1uprising's reviews (36)

Don't be put off by the sequence in Bree, get straight over to Fornost. Good characters, great graphics, LOTR feel to everything, good fighting controls and special ability casting. There is 3 different levels, which you unlock on game completion (playthru on norm to unlock heroic, playthru on heroic to unlock legend.). Good character levelling up, with some powerful abilities to unlock. Get better and better gear and weapons as the game progresses. Multiplayer is basically playing the solo campaign with your two AI team-mates replaced by other people. The previous reviewer was on about the poor multiplayer, i can tell you exactly what the problem is, there's one on-line trophy which is abit glitchy, so 90% of people will drop out of the game as soon as they've unlocked it, the other 10% are testing out the multiplayer and probably drop back to solo soon after. You desperately want to play this through on-line. Get 2 friends to play it with you, who are going to stick it out for a set amount of time.
GET THIS GAME IT'S A BARGAIN.
P.S. It hasn't got any combo unlocks, not really anyway (you know : square, square, triangle, square for 'Supersmash' etc) but doesn't suffer for it.

Still not ready to be released.

Following from the accurate review below saying to wait 6 months before buying I can confirm that they still have not patched any problems. I was thoroughly enjoying the game in every aspect until a glitch just after halfway through prevents you from continuing. I am glad I only spent 12 pounds on this game but the fact remains that this is unacceptable. Some people may have no problem at all with it according to what I've read online but for those who do encounter problems you can be sure they will not go away.

  Co-op pointless

Brilliant one player game but it is nigh on impossable to save with any consistancy when playing as a two player co-op. This is due to a software glitch and has made what should have been a great Birthday gift for my other half a waste of money. Such a shame as the gameplay is great.

Fantastic. I loved every moment of this game, the story is intense. The graphics are awesome! Having completed the game, I was pleased to see I could replay it on a harder difficulty. Way better than the Trilogy games! Really hoping for a sequel... War in the South? (Haha!)

Wasn't ready to be released yet.

Your first impression of the game is good. Nice graphics, reasonable music, great multi-player options. The storyline is basic and linear - but it is good enough for it not to detract from the overall game experience.
Once you play the game for any length of time you will find yourself put into one of three camps:
*those who can play error free
*those who can play but with some major errors
*those who cannot play at all due to the severity of the game breaking errors.

The people who can play error free appear to be few and far between - with the majority having problems so severe that they cannot finish the game. There are a few workarounds for some of the errors, involving joining online games, swapping characters, reloading multiple times, etc. But in this day and age who wants to have to do that? In the ultra competitive console game market a developer should get the game right first time.
The producers whilst initially open to players about there being a fix coming have gone silent for quite some time - leaving many people speculating that WB Games are not going to bother fixing it at all.
This looks like a clear case of rushing an unfinished product out in time for christmas.

My advice to you - do not buy this game yet. Wait 6 months first to see if a fix is released. If it is then you will have a great time. If not, then at least you haven't wasted a lot of money buying something that is broken.

Nice but has a few downers.

Game is good, I played the game through 3 times and maxed my character out in the best armour and weopns i could get, The biggest down fall to this game is that it becomes very easy, the 2nd play through was a breeze as was the third. Game has a major bug also, if you play as dwarf and use the fire on the arrow move it will kill any enemy in one shot or 2 or 3 shots for bosses, this is based on if you have a good enough shotbow, Most broken thing in game, makes it not worth playing as no challange, Great graphics and makes a great rent for the weekend.

If your a LOTR fan don't hesitate

You have 3 playable characters, A human, and Elf and a dwarve (of course) I played through the game 3 times, once as each character and thoroughly enjoyed them all, There are plenty of side quests and items to collect so you won't get bored! Under rated title.
