I was going to come on here and have a little moan but now I am half way through the game, MSA has come into its own.
Initially and I still think that the 'Rookie' level which you have to do is way too easy. The tracks are great fun but lack ay technical challenge. However around half way through the 'Pro' level, thiings definitely start to hot up and due to the fact that the tracks morph (no not the little plasticine guy) the challenge gets much tougher. t took me around 3 hours to complete the 'Rookie' level and only had to try each race one to get through but now it is taking more attemtps at each race which is what we want. I guess for newbies, the fact that Rookie is easy is a good thing but for the seasoned, it is no great.
The amount of things going on in some of the races is seriously impressive and really must put the PS through its paces. I agree with other comments that the story mode is totally unnecessary and would have preferred that they put the time they spent on this into the rt work in the game itself as compared to the previous iterations, it is poor in places (although still great in others.) What I am saying is that the graphics are smooth but a bit squeky clean in places. Also disappointing in the lack of the '......In this ageless valley' intro with the much loved MS theme. Otherwise, the music in the game is superb and challenges once again most other dirving game scores and the action once you are part way through is awesome.
The additon of the new cars in this version is much welcome and now we have tarmac, we have Super-Minis, Super-Cars and Super-Bikes. All great.
I am glad overall that the developers have listened to their critics though and have moved the 'last lap' indicator away form the middle of the screen and have also given us back 3 laps. In fact some races are 4 or 5 laps which is brilliant. I have to admit in Pacific Rift, I felt totally robbed with only two laps per race.
Overall, this is a must buy. I wish there were more races in it, there aren't so many tracks but the morphing makes up for that as each time it id different but because they wanted to achive this, they have not simply given us the same track with different opponents like before. I can see what they wanted to do but they could have given us both and more races. I hope that like the first Motorstorm, we get some Race Weekends for offline gaming. They were great and good value for money.
It is games like this that make me wonder why anyone owns the competitive console. Why would yuo not want Motorstorm in your collection?!
