  Make sure its needed

Giving this 3 stars is a little harsh but necessary. The controller does exactly what it is meant to, perfectly. No one can fault that. Based on that alone this deservies 5 out of 5.

I am only giving it 3 stars for factors out of its control.
Firstly, hardly any games actually need the device, making it a little unnecessary.
Secondly (the most fustrating reason) i am left handed, making all the controls completly reversed. The button layout was made for the left hand (where the right hand holds the motion controller). Being left-handed means controlling the device in game is very difficult.

I feel unfairly victimised!

  Great product lacking key titles

The controller is made strong and robust and gives you the buttons in the right places. Unfortunately there is very little which takes advantage of it. Res Evil 5 plays better without, while Killzone 3 seems a lot to merit a high price tag. Consider it on price, don't bother at full RRP but a tenner off is not bad.

The Navigation Controller fits very comfortably in the hand and, without the need for a wire connecting it to the Motion Controller, enables you to move more freely when compared to the Wii. All buttons are well positioned and battery charge lasts a long time. Design-wise it's a very nice looking piece of kit.

In terms of how essential this item is, it all depends which games you intend to play. For example, Sports Champions is designed to work WITHOUT the Navigation Controller. All the activities can be played with a single Motion Controller.

You WILL need the Navigation Controller to play games such as Little Big Planet 2, Resident Evil & Killzone 3, where character movement is controlled directly by the player.

  Does exactly what it says!!

I recently purchased the Navigation controller to play Resident Evil 5, I have not tried the controller with any other game so my review is soley based on the experience from that, and it is a very pleasant one.

The controller does everything you need, it fits in your hand nicely and all the buttons are easy to reach and use. It has two buttons on the back L1 and a trigger for L2. It also has the full d-pad and the x and o button. All the buttons are easy to use during gameplay and feel very natural.

The controller fits into the docking station much like the other move controllers, but seems to use alot less battery life as I have only charged it fully once.

It made the whole experience of playing Resident Evil alot better and for 17 pound it is a very good price. Although the controller is very small and may seem expensive it changes the gaming experience and will definately be used again on games such as Killzone 3 and Virtua Tennis 4. If you have a Playstation Move then this is essential.

  Great with Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain with the Move and Navigation Controller is fantastic. Its a hardcore game where motion controllers allow you to experience it in a new, enjoyable way.

  Essential for RE5 Move edition

I personally feel the Navigator is essential for RE5. if you use the dualshock3 it will actually detract from the experience. The navigator fits nicely and is very light. I've been using the Navigator and Move controller for RE5 and it works very well indeed. If anything my rating on pro went from grade C to A. It fits naturally. Since I've been using the combination I found that RE5 feels allot easier and fun to play.

Most of the move release titles do not support this controller.
I had hoped it would be like the wii nunchuk, but for games like Sports Champions you need 2 move controllers as the navigation controller is not supported.
My advice it to wait until there are more games supporting this controller.
Furthermore there is no safety strap. If my kids end up putting this controller through the TV I will send Sony the bill for being too tight to include such a basic component.

  Before you buy one..

Well I bought 2 navigation and motion controllers as I thought i'd need them, BUT after charging them up I put SPort Champions on and.... The game doesn't support the navigation controller! I don't get it.
So check the game cover to see if you really need to buy this controller.
